Tin Chu Chi Hong, Hong Kong

Great food. They specialise (but not exclusively) in Sichuan food. I'm reticent about overly spicy but have this hasn't been an issue for me at this place. I've been numerous times with my better half negotiating the bookings for a group of up to 50 (she tells me she communicates with the owner effortlessly in Cantonese). I've also been a few times with friends who always say how much they enjoy this place. Two guys in particular are real spice fiends; they adore this place for the flavoursome food they say is marvellous.

I don't know what it was called but one dish we had with green beans numbed my lips in a manner like nothing I can think of before (very nice). To clarify though that wasn't a spicy dish in the sense of something unpleasant and chilli packed. I liked it, it was different.

There is some very nice decoration in this place that obviously hasn't just been bought from some cheap shop. Staff are very nice as is the atmosphere.

Pros: All-vegan, Very enjoyable different style of food

Hearty Chinese Buffet

I enjoyed the lunch buffet here immensely. Lots of great, vegetable-heavy dishes with only the occasional (and slight) reliance on fake meats. My favourites were the dumplings (水饺) and plentiful wood ear mushrooms. The tea, which is included in the price of the meal, was also excellent- and included a number of different types. I agree with some of the comments that the cuisine is not particularly spicy, so don’t expect a very “ma la” experience. That said, the style of cuisine is heavier and more Northern (read less Cantonese) than other local restaurants.

Not spicy enough

I came all the way for spicy food because they marketed themselves as Sichuan restaurant. We specifically ask for extra spicy. Yet, it's still not spicy enough.
The restaurant is nicely decorated. Very comfortable. There are some special Sichuan dishes that could not be found else where in Hong Kong. The staff is really nice but cannot speak very well Cantonese (they probably come from mainland China)
Would be much better if they can make really Sichuan spicy food if this's their marketing position.

Pros: Comfortable restaurant, NIce staff

Cons: Not spicy enough, No English menu

Ok restaurant

Mixed feelings. Definitely a good vegetarian restaurant: friendly staff, the food is good, the restaurant is nice and modern. But in terms of type of dishes I had higher expectations - since they do Sichuan dishes. We had a standard set menu of 4 dishes. Regular type - nothing fancy and definitely not Sichuan-spicy. Price is in my opinion on the high side given the location of the restaurant. But as indicated in the title, an OK choice if you’re in the neighbourhood.
