The best vegan food on the island!

Amazing flavor, decent portion, all alright prices.

We loved all of the vegan dishes but the fritter & pad Thai were our faves! The soba noodles, and fried rice were good too, just not as outstanding.

After a week here tidepools had the best vegan food on Kaua’i.

Pros: Flavor

Make your reservation now

What a delight in multiple ways. The Grand Hyatt has done very well for vegans and those who want to eat their greens. This checks all the boxes: atmosphere, elegant service that fits the soothing environment, and delicious food. The tables that appear to be nearly floating in the lagoon will lull you into vacation mood. The active koi kept us entertained since they were just a few feet from our toes. When we weren’t sure how much to order, our server encouraged us to order one dish at a time, which was gingerly and relaxing. We shared the beet salad, which he described as vegan sashimi or I might have called beet carpaccio. Then we shared the salad of greens grown on the premises. (Note to self: next visit, come earlier to visit the onsite greenhouse, they give tours.) While the server accurately warned us that the pad thai was big enough for two to share, we went all in and got both the pad thai and the coconut forbidden rice. My husband claims not to like coconut unless it’s flavored with curry, but when I looked up, he had polished off a rather large portion of coconut coated forbidden rice.

Perhaps the best part and where the Grand Hyatt should be most applauded is that the climate friendly entrees were only $25 and 27, compared to $60 for beef entrees. Learning about the history of cattle ranching on the islands might make you lose your taste for beef anyway. If you want to dine at this spectacular location with wonderful service at affordable prices, just order the vegan options.

And don’t fret if you can’t immediately get a reservation. We used Open Table to notify us if anything became available, and ended up getting a table on our desired day and within an hour of our desired time. Since there’s not a sunset view from the restaurant, no need to clamor for a 6 pm dinner reservation. Ideally you’ll be at the Stevenson’s Library cocktail bar higher up on the resort property at the beginning of your evening, which doesn’t require reservations if you just want to sit at the bar.

Solid Dinner Experience

Came on our agavemoon and was not disappointed. Had the Tofu Pad Thai and the Forbidden Rice vegan. We would recommend it.

Upscale Vegan Options!!

Loved our service from Ron. BFF and I shared amongst us the tofu veggie fritter, forbidden rice, and tofu pad thai. Flavors were exceptional on all three, the forbidden rice was like dessert! Had 2 drink, the shipwreck surfer and a long island. Would come again knowing theres good food for us. Note: the aoli on the pad thai is not vegan so they put it separate for us, but you could ask for none. Flavors were there without it!

Pros: 3 or more great vegan options, yummy drinks , great atmosphere and service

Cons: no vegan desserts, costly

Why is this a 3 star?

Personally I think it should be a 4 star. Sadly not 5 because no vegan dessert. Please make vegan dessert. Lowkey tipsy but slaying. Love love love the coconut rice. Seriously. Also the shoshito pad Thai is also hella good. Recommend!!

Pros: 4 vegan options, COCONUT RICE IS SOOOO GOOD, service is A+

Cons: No vegan dessert , Pricy lol

Beautiful setting, okay food

The setting of this restaurant is very lovely with the koi ponds and a view of the beach. The food was okay, but probably not worth the resort price tag. I ordered a veganized salad and the server made sure to put the dressing on the side because he realized there was honey in it — but the salad was covered in feta cheese!! So while they did their best to be accommodating, they seemed a bit confused about what is vegan. This is the kind of place you enjoy for the ambiance, not the food.

Beautiful upscale resort with very limited vegan options

Most people come to see the very large upscale resort, gardens, koi ponds, & beach (you can do that without visiting the restaurants).
The vegan menu item underwhelmed for the price. Large pieces of grilled tofu, a few ali'i mushroom slivers, & veggies while tasty, required a second dinner later. (The local ali'i mushroom is very tasty & inexpensive in local food markets.)

Pros: one vegan entree -- though tasty (& easily could h

Cons: expensive (for what it was), very limited vegan menu

accommodating but nothing crazy inventive

We ate here after my fiancé's sister got married at the Hyatt last week. They had arranged for us to have vegan options but only got there it almost seemed like they were planning on the spot. It ended up fine though - they made us first course with Brussels sprouts, the entree was a portobello mushroom, and sorbets for dessert. Paired with tons of wine it was a filling meal! And the staff was totally on top of things and very attentive and wanting to please.

(This won't apply to most diners but just have to mention it...The one really negative thing I'll say is they need to buy The Joy of Vegan Baking. We were all sent home with pastries and our vegan options were like these cupcakes and they tasted like Play-Doh!! We threw them all away because they were so nasty. Maybe they came from elsewhere on the Hyatt property though.)

Cool place

There is really only one entree option here without meat, so your choice will be very limited. However, the atmosphere is really cool since it's in a thatched roof open hut style right on the hotel's pool. The grounds of the hotel are lovely to walk around and see too. I'd go back again if they had another food choice, but they don't, so I won't.

Pros: atmosphere

Cons: limited menu, very expensive

Beautiful Atmosphere & Good Food

One of the best hotels on the island is the Grand Hyatt Kaua'i. That being said, it has some of the best restaurants on the island too. Tidepools is located on the pools of the resort with cute thatched hut-style roofs. Their menu has vegetable samosa and the garden isle salad for starters. For your main meal, they have tofu hiryozu which is quite tasty. It is like tofu crab cakes almost.

Pros: nice setting, vegan friendly

Cons: only a few options
