Convenient and wide range of options - Edit
I remember when Tibits opened and so many people were outraged that the historic "Buffet de la gare" would be vegetarian...and now it's always full of people!
Read moreI go regularly because it's really convenient (most of the options are vegan, and they are clearly labelled as such - if you don't speak French just turn the little labels in front of each food on the buffet, English is on the other side) and there is a lot of choice. It's also the kind of place where you can linger with your book, except maybe at lunch time.
However it is a bit pricey and kindness of staff varies.

Tasty but pricey - Edit
Really great selection of food. Abundance of vegan options and an amazing range of desserts.
Read moreIt’s Switzerland so the prices are steep and it’s all in a form of buffet so it’s hard to tell how much you’ll pay when you load your plate.
Pros: 90% of stuff is vegan, Great selection and everything we tried was tasty.
Cons: Expensive

Super nice vegan selection but pricey - Edit
The food was delicious, and the range of vegan options is great! However, in my opinion, the prices are quite steep. We paid around 70 CHF for two drinks and two plates from the buffet. We felt reasonably full, but considering it’s self-serve and our portions weren’t huge, the price didn’t quite feel justified.

Delicious but expensive - Edit
The food by weight gets expensive super quickly and the beverages are very pricey too. The place is super nice but due to the self service/ buffet style it does feel a bit like a canteen which is weird because you've paid so much. And if you liked something and want to get more of it you have to pay again.

Delicious selection - Edit
We loved basically everything we tried here! They even had some fancy vegan cheese to add to your plate, large selection of dessers, drinks, even sandwiches. The weight can add up quickly so you end up spending more than you realize. But worth it for sure.

What a find! - Edit
If only every city had a Tibits! We have eaten here four nights in a row on our short visit to Lausanne. Every night the mains have been different, and nearly everything is vegan. Mains have included a delicious spinach dahl, a potato rogan josh curry, seitan and mushrooms in a creamy mustard sauce, carrot and smoked tofu ragu, and accompaniments such as courgette fritters, potato croquettes, ginger rice, and sweet potato fries. If you are used to English prices it seems a bit expensive, but by Swiss standards it seems about average for a mid-range eatery. We have spent around £20 per plate each night (20 to 25 Swiss francs). Tonight, our last night, we tried the puddings, which came in at around 6 francs each for a small square of cheesecake and a spoonful of tiramisu. The restaurant is in the former station buffet at the main station and it is suitably grand and beautifully decorated. All in all, it has been one of the highlights of our trip - such a joy to have choices!

Only stayed for coffee and a smoothie but a lovely setting, friendly staff and food looked great. Buffet, paid for according to weight as mentioned in previous reviews. Interesting concept, not seen it before! Good coffee and the green power smoothie got a thumbs up too

Can't go wrong with tibits, but... - Edit
Having often eaten at other branches of this chain in other cities, I am very familiar with much of what appears on their buffet, and it's always delicious, if a bit pricy.
Read moreThis branch, however, is special in that it's in an old salon at the train station, which makes the room a bit of an attraction in itself. It also, however, makes it very noisy when busy, because the acoustics of the room are not very good.

Mega place! Choice and taste! - Edit
Tibits was founded from 3 brothers and the founder of Hiltl (oldest vegetarian restaurant)
Read moreFor sure on the same level as Hiltl - maybe a bit more mainstream talking about the target customers.
The food selection is huge from every region of the world. Well prepared for every meal - which is very rare!
Almost everything is also vegan. As a vegan you for sure will be happy and satisfied thinking about the very huge variety.
Talking about the spot itsel - it just beautifully integrated within the main station with huge sealings! Nice atmosphere therefore.
Plates are paid by weight.
Serving different food for breakfast till 10am.
One of the best places across switzerland!

Loved this place! - Edit
Went here twice during my quick trip to Lausanne. As mentioned, it’s a reverse buffet so you first grab a plate and load up on what you want. English translation is on the reverse side of the name plate. Then head over to the counter/register and weight your plate and order drinks. I order the Indian Chai 😋. The food was great both times and the atmosphere was outstanding.

Import this concept in Paris ! - Edit
Loved it ! It is a buffet where you pay your dish depending of the weight of your food. Less food waste this way. The price is very reasonable. You have a wide selection of cold and hot dishes. The fried eggplant was so memorable. I would say that 90% of the selection is vegan. I wish it was fully vegan ! (That's why one less star). The decoration is also stunning. Friendly service. Did you know that the Tibits from Zurich was the first vegetarian restaurant in the world ? Opened since 1898 !

A needed and appreciated vegan-friendly resource - Edit
We filled up with various salads from the buffet in preparation for travel back home. There were so many vegan choices. We enjoyed a bean salad, and an apple salad, and yet another third salad. Everything was delicious and held up even overnight until we ate it
Read moreWhile at the restaurant, we enjoyed two vegan desserts and coffee. Also delicious.
A minor criticism: the cardboard carry out containers are not strong enough to hold the liquid material for any period of time and leaking is a risk. When we go back again, we will bring our own plastic carry out dishes.
Pros: So many vegan choices , Delicious salads , Friendly staff
Cons: Carryout packaging is not sturdy; only good for ea

THE vegetarian and vegan restaurant - Edit
Although expensive, must be noted, be ready to pay 20-25.- for your plate, the buffet is amazing ! There is so much choice and variety that it is not possible not to like at least one thing. Everything is delicious and the place (the old train station restaurant) is beautiful.

Loved the convenience and variety that you could get at this place! 90 % of items are vegan. Try to really interesting vegan cheeses that were good as well. I wonder if they make them or who they source them from.

I can’t wait for Tibits to be 100% vegan ;) - Edit
I’ve been going to Tibits for years, first in Swiss Germany where I had discovered it :)
Read moreI usually get my food to go in a rebox from recircle. Which makes this the most cost and zero waste friendly option. As there are three different price options for the food.
The most expensive is to eat in the second price is for take out but in a single use container and the cheapest is take out in your own container, Tibits bento or rebox (recircle with a 10.- deposit you get back when you return the rebox)
For me the buffet concept is perfect as I can eat a small amount of lots of different dishes! And also this gets me to try some dishes I would normally not go for.
Sometimes the food quality varies. And I have noticed that the root vegetables are not quite cooked through some cases.
Currently my favorite bread (you can have one free with your meal) is the turmeric one.
I’ve been to all the Tibits locations in Switzerland except for one and I have always been satisfied to find good and easy vegan food on the go
Updated from previous review on 2023-04-13
Pros: The buffet is almost entirely vegan , Good description of each dish with allergens, Open pretty much all the time
Cons: Sometimes the root vegetables are not quite cooke, This location can get loud , Not entirely vegan yet
