Momos with the Dalai Lama

I went here with a bunch of friends in July this summer.

The restaurant didn't look like much from the outside, but after stepping down a small staircase and being led through a tiny maze to a secluded room, I realized how big it actually is. It was really cramped and cozy and I really liked it. On a wall next to us was a poster of the Dalai Lama.

The menu was a bit confusing, but after some help from the waiter I ordered ten vegan momos with two sauces. They were very good and filling.

I'd be happy to come back here again!

Simple, cheap & tasty

Went here with a group of friends for dinner and everything was great.

The menu is not clearly marked with vegan options but the waiter could tell us what dishes were possible to make vegan. I had the vegan momos which you get together with peanut- and another sauce. I had the momos steamed (you can also have them fried) and they tasted really good! A very simple dish and the six momos was enough for me to get full.

Would love to come back!

As waiter about vegan options. Great food

A lot of dishes have 'G' for milk on the menu (e.g. almost all dishes with momos). However the waiter explained they can do many in vegan. The momos and the soja vegan cheese are great!

Great food, cheap prices

Really good thalis, curries, and dumplings. Not everything is vegan but it is clearly labelled. Staff efficient and space is cosy. Could have more vegan options but it's a nice space for large group gatherings with omnis.

Pros: Dumplings, Price

Vegetarian friendly but not super vegan friendly

I got a tofu and vegetable curry to go which was tasty. It has a big selection of vegetarian dishes but many of the dishes contain cheese, so it’s more suited to vegetarians than vegans.

The interior is very interesting, there are many Tibetan masks and paintings. I like the atmosphere!

Just okay

Came here with friends, cute place. The food was filling, but not very flavorful. I got the Sag Tofu and the spinach didn’t have any flavor to it. The little lentil soup you get with it was pretty good!

A friend got the vegetarian Kwati Momo Teller and it was pretty good, but nothing to write home about. Another friend got Dal Bhat Tarkari and also felt like it was just okay. They both said the yogurt sauce (not vegan) was the best part!

On a side note, the server was helpful and clarified things that can be made vegan, as not everything is specifically labeled. None of the Momos can be made vegan, just FYI!

Horrible!

After reading all the nice reviews I really looked forward to this but it turned out awful.

First of all: only about 4 of the mains can be made vegan, (the dry-spiced ones & the ones with coconut milk) the rest has cream in the sauces. Service was also slow and staff not exeptionally friendly.

We asked for our dishes specifically vegan and I got a big piece of chicken in mine which I discovered after eating half of it. Staff didn't really care about me being upset, my food was sent out and my boyfriend couldn't finish his after this eighter. They still made us pay full price for the meal...

Don't go here!

Favorite restaurant in bergmankiez

This restaurant deserves five stars, but happycow only allows for 4 because it serves meat. Great dishes, lots of vegetarian and vegan options, such a friendly staff, always nice, genuine and smiling, cheap prices for both food and drinks, great atmosphere. My favorite around

cheap, big portions, tasty

Actually Kreuzberg seems to be vegan paradise for a bavarian. Still this restaurant is special because of its charme, its cheap prices (even for dinner), a nice variety of vegan dishes and good portions.
I had an "Okraschoten" dish with soup and rice.
I will go there more often.

Pros: cheap, good portions, quite some vegan dishes

Cons: not fully vegan yet

Yummy Nepalese and Tibetan food

My favorites here include Sag tareko and Sag tofu (vegan spicy spinach dishes for 5€) as well as the vegan and vegetarian momos (Tibetan dumplings for 6€). Nothing is labeled vegan, but not all dishes include cream or cheese (in contrast to many Indian places). My favorite vegetarian dish is Kathmandu vegetable curry with paneer and Nepalese spices. If you ever go through all the Nepalese and Tibetan dishes (which you may if you visit as often as I do) you can go for Thai curries as well.

The owner and waiters are Nepalese and the cooks either Nepalese or Thai, all very friendly. Great value for your money.

Because this restaurant also serves meat, happy cow prevents me from giving the deserved 5 stars!

Pros: Delicious food, Good prices, Extra-friendly waiters

Cons: Limited outside seating, Hot inside in the summer, Most seats are high
