Great veg*n single-serving hot pot place

I went in a group of four last month. Two of my party shared one hot pot (additional sharing charge of NT$30), and the rest of us each ordered our own. If you're vegan, avoid the hot pot options with mock meats since they contain eggs, as well as the lacto-vegetarian curry and milk option. I'd also recommend telling the owner to omit the whole egg that usually comes as a side.

I got the lion's mane mushroom and sesame oil hot pot (NT$300), and it came with a beautiful platter of fresh vegetables. You can choose between white rice or rice noodles. (I went with the latter.) There's a little basket of condiments that the owner will offer you, but make sure to take only what you need at the beginning of the meal since there's only that one basket, and it gets passed along to the next new customer after you're done.

It's a pretty small restaurant and is fairly popular, so get there early if you don't want to end up waiting for an hour. (The owner used to take reservations, but he quit doing that because of no-shows or last-minute changes of plan.) On weekends, he limits diners to 90 minutes to make sure people who come later have a chance to eat without waiting for several hours.

You can collect one stamp for every hot pot ordered. Once you collect ten stamps, you get a free hot pot. There's also a discount if you go in a group of four people and one person has a birthday that month.

Pros: fresh vegetables, great flavor

Cons: awkward ergonomics at the bar, mock meats contain eggs, limited seating
