I'd give it 6 stars if I could

Came here after discovering it was just down the road from my hotel (the Jupiter Casino & Hotel).

You pass from a busy, dirty concrete sidewalk on the highway through a gate of green into a pretty courtyard, then into the main restaurant - a lovely atmospheric transition. In the evening the restaurant is dark, with a wood and stone bohemian interior. You can sit on floor cushions in the corner.

You order at a counter and instead of an order number to take back to your table you receive a picture of a famous vegetarian (though Einstein is highly questionable ;-)).

I had the chef's special, which was a spelt crust pizza with homemade chilli jam, figs, walnuts, pumpkin and a vegan nut cheese. It was oven baked and slightly blackened, and topped with fresh arugula.

This pizza was, without exaggeration, one of the most sublime things I've ever eaten, and I let the chef know when I left.

It seemed a bit pricey at $18.50 (most entrees did), but it was so worth it in the end.

There was a birthday party going on in the courtyard, and the whole place had a relaxed, friendly, neighbourhood vibe. Great place to take a date.

Welcoming atmosphere and decent eats.

Three Worlds Cafe is a cosy, comfortable cafe with board games and big tables. The staff is really friendly and offered up information on a drumming and fire-spinning gathering going on later this weekend. After I finished my meal and went up for dessert, I was asked if I enjoyed everything and the staff were pleased I'd be going to the gathering.

The pizza isn't the best of all time, but it is really good and ok for wheat allergies (not gluten, it's made with spelt). All food is vegan! The cheesecake was a little frozen (display cases can do that, so it's all good), but overall nice flavor. Seemed like a great place to come and relax with friends, get some food and play some games.

Pros: All vegan, friendly staff, wheat-free

Gourmet Pizzas

We went for dinner at 3Worlds twice while holidaying on the Gold Coast recently. We were so impressed with our dinner on our first visit, that we decided to go there a second time a few days later. Would we have left it at the first visit this would be a raving review, now unfortunately it's a bit mixed.

Good things first: The food is fantastic. The pizzas are all vegan and sooooooo delicious. The restaurant uses home made vegan "cheese" and lots of oven roasted veggies, nice sauces etc so these are real Gourmet pizzas. We also had a taste of the vegan Waldorf salad and the vegan Moussaka which were also very yummy. We didn't try the pasta dish or any of the desserts but they looked nice.

3Worlds is a small place with only a few tables and the atmosphere is very cosy and relaxed. The restaurant is at the back of a shop that sells drums and fire breathing equipment and the walls of the restaurant are covered with lots of great photos of people fire breathing and playing the drums.

Mixed things now: On our first visit the service was great. The waitress was very friendly and very attentive and we got our food very quickly.

On our second visit there was a different waitress, who was friendly but had absolutely no idea what she was doing. Between the incompetent waitress and the fact that the kitchen ran out of pizza dough very early in the evening our dining experience was rather disastrous. And we were not the only unhappy customers.

I'd definitely go back to 3Worlds because the food is fantastic, but I hope the bad service night was just a one-off hiccup...
