This restaurant is so underrated! I didn't think that one of the best meals I've had in Japan (so far) would be in Matsumoto. The menu is small, with only two dishes, but everything was so tasty! The noodles are thick and chewy; the toppings are varied, fresh, and colorful; and the sauces are so flavorful. Portion sizes are quite generous and it's a good bang for your buck at only 1200 yen per dish. Service is quick and friendly. The interior is bright and clean. The location is great, really close to the train station. If I lived here I'd be a regular!

Fresh noodles and a interesting concept of broth-less ramen - the people with me were reluctant to eat alone so came along (with very low expectations, because they eat meat - originally they both wanted to grab pizza) and they were very pleasantly surprised! Four empty bowls at the end. We went for the sesame noodles - was delicious to try before and after mixing. I think the spicy would've been good too, the sesame version had no heat at all. The yuzu sour I had was also very tasty and went down a treat! Very reasonably priced, fairly quiet when we went but we did eat quite early in the evening.

Being vegetarian, we don't often eat ramen, but we had never had soupless ramen before. It came with loads of toppings and a spicy oil, once mixed up there were so many different flavours going on. Amazing. Not expensive and the drinks were also not pricey. Only 2 options but bearing in mind that often veggies only have one thing available to them on the menu (if hat) 2 choices feels like luxury.

This is my third time here in 4 months. As one reviewer said, it is not a noodle stand but based on that idea. It’s a small, casual place with only 2 delicious main dishes. Even with only two items, I still have trouble deciding. But I think the red spicy umami is my fave. Despite the comments of another reviewer that the staff aren’t friendly to foreigners, I have found it to be the opposite.

You may be put off by the name of the restaurant. It is not an actual stand, it is an excellent (but moderately sized) restaurant. It is vegan and has effectively two dishes with instructions on how the dish shoule be eaten. The two dishes that are offered are either spicy or not spicy. I had the spicy dish and loved it (mildly spicy). Fully recommend. Go there!
