Best food in New Plymouth - Edit
The food here is fantastic. We came back every day during our trip, and made lunch at Three Pillars our primary meal of the day. (Dinner options in NP are a bit thin on the ground.)
Read moreThey have a lunch buffet with classic hot vegan dishes and salads. You can complement this with pies, wraps, burgers and bagels.
They also have a dessert cabinet full of great tasting sweet slices, and serve a very good coffee.
It was also nice to see a great cross-section of New Plymouth locals eating lunch here.
The one weak point was the ergonomics of the cafe. There are couches, book shelves and plants obstructing my efforts to eat their fantastic food.
Pros: Fantastic food, Healthy and wide range of choice, Good Coffee
Cons: Only open for lunch, Tables not well organised

Choices - Edit
A lovely totally vegan cafe situated on New Plymouth's main street. So many choices it was hard to decide. I went for the buffet - which was tasty and fresh. My friend ordered the burger, and I admit I had a bit of food envy. However, I did get to try some as it was so big!
Read moreGreat value for money.
They also sell some vegan foods - I bought a tin of Banana Blossom as I haven't tried it before. The woman who was working there told me it makes great "fish", so I am looking forward to having a 'fish' and chip night very soon.
Pros: All vegan food, Great value for money, Lots of choices

Amazing Vegan Buffet food - Edit
Me and my girlfriend came here to get a coffee and after seeing the vegan buffet lunch we had to stay. They have small, medium, large plates you select what plate you want and fill up from a selection of hot and cold foods. We filled up the plate to the brim. They had loads to offer with lots of gluten free options. Was an amazing find the prices are very fair for the amount you can have would highly recommend.

This place is a vegans dream. An entire Buffet, all vegan, super tasty, lots of fresh options, decent price for portions, lovely place to eat and lovely staff. A must visit when in NP! Update: if you're lucky enough to try one of their 'meat' pies in the cabinet, please do, best pie I've ever had 🙌

Went for the buffet lunch. You just grab a plate and take it to the counter. Fast, easy, cheap, healthy and all vegan. What more can you ask for?

A delicious all-vegan trip around the world! - Edit
Vegan travel can be vexing at best and difficult at worst, so we were ecstatic to find Three Pillars Cafe. Now no longer affiliated with the Loving Hut group, this restaurant stands on its own. Lunch was buffet-style. We picked up plates and selected from many choices including a yellow curry with vegetables, eggplant moussaka, tomato and pumpkin pasta, Moroccan salad, egg rolls, and others dishes. Passing by the dessert case, I opted for the chocolate mousse cake, although I was tempted by many others. Everything was delicious! The staff was very friendly, and gave us some sightseeing tips for the area. I wish we were staying longer and could return regularly.

Ok - Edit
I never had lunch buffet but food on the menu for dinner was average. It is good that they are fully vegan but I think some of their recipes could be improved. Chilli didn’t impress much and burger was too oily for my taste. On the bright side, we bought some tasty meat replacement (green bag) which we had with pitas and tomatoes. That was delicious.

Awesome Lunch Buffet, Dinner Menu improvable - Edit
Lunch Buffet was very delicious. Really everything tasted awesome. Came back next day to dinner time and were disappointed about the dinner menu with just a few choice which wasn't really good. So, if you come to eat here I can highly recommend the Lunch Buffet. By the way the juices and smoothies are really good and fresh as well.

I visited New Plymouth last year with my partner and on our first day we decided to try Loving Hut.. We had lunch there 3 times in 3 days! It was so delicious and great value that we didn't even care about trying somewhere else. The buffet is amazing, the staff is very friendly and the place is simple and calm. They have a little library with vegan books to read there. I wish there was more Loving Huts around NZ.

This place is seriously awesome. The lunch buffet is where it's at - So many delicious options, both healthy and a little bit naughty and great value for money. The only down buzz here is that the buffet is only open for lunch on week days and I work on the other side of town waaaaa! So yum. Get amongst it :)

Cannot fault it - Edit
I go for the lunchtime buffet which is well-priced and tasty. When I say tasty, I mean awesome in the true sense, much tastier than any meat meals I ate when I ate meat. I didn't know you could do so much with 100% plant-based food and not even a sniff of dairy. There is plenty of choice and I should patronise this place more such is it's value in the dairyland of Taranaki.
Read moreThe decor is plain, it is more of a cafe than a restaurant I think but that food..mmm.

Lovely Loving Hut - Edit
I visited the Loving Hut with my boyfriend in May this year, it was my birthday and I was really excited to be going to an all vegan restaurant in the small coastal town of New Plymouth.
Read moreThe lunch time buffet is really great, it's amazing value and there are so many options to choose from. There are 3 plate sizes to choose from, you pick your size and pay accordingly. We are both very greedy so opted for large! It was $12 each and we left feeling very full and very happy.
The dishes include: spring rolls, curries, stir fries, salads, fried tofu, pasta in sauce, shepards pie, lasange and fresh veggies. You can grab a bottle of water for free and read a book about veganism while you dine.
The staff are amazing and there is a notice board towards the back advertising cool things like yoga and meditation.
This place is a true gem and I would highly recommend it!
Pros: All Vegan, Lots of Choice , Peaceful Environment
Cons: All you can eat style buffet would be better

A little gem - Edit
My first time at a solely vegan restaurant and it was a lovely experience. We got the tofu starter. A generous portion and very tasty. And the burger for main which was delicious. A little book shelf too with informative books and recipe books. (we were there for the dinner menu on a Saturday night)

A must-visit when we are in New Plymouth... - Edit
We always eat here at least a couple of times when we visit New Plymouth for WOMAD weekend in March. The food is great quality and everything in the restaurant is vegan. I love it. Cabinet food and buffet choices don't vary too much but the options are all tasty (I've tried everything!)and they charge by the plate size so you can mix up the options depending on what you decide to eat on the day. It's generally popular and busy and the buffet/cabinet is constantly being restocked from the kitchen.
Read moreThe desserts are always interesting with great cakes and when we were there 2 weeks ago, delicious passionfruit cheesecake! Tasty smoothies and juices are available to compliment the meal. Highly recommended!
Pros: Clean and casual dining area, Staff are always friendly., Very affordable prices
Cons: Pity they're not open for breakfasts too

Great Little Oasis - Edit
We never thought we would find a vegan havan in New Plymouth. This place has a small-ish buffet, you pay by plate and there are some extras like pies and "sausage rolls"... and fantastic deserts. It all comes at a reasonable price.
