Loved the Vibe - Edit
Loved the café and the overall vibe — and their cats are absolutely adorable! The food was good, though a bit on the milder side. Service was great, and I highly recommend trying the hot chocolate. The only downside was the mango cheesecake; it wasn’t really set and felt more like a pudding or an açaí bowl. Otherwise, a lovely experience!

This and Yen are top tier - Edit
Awesome experience at Thong Dong honestly must’ve ate here every day. Note that breakfast is served downstairs to the left.

All the breakfast items were great - pb and j toast was not my fav but it was still good tasting if you like pb and passion fruit.
Noodle soup is an absolute classic.

Expectativas demasiado altas - Edit

The cats were the best part of the restaurant - Edit
This place has a nice ambience but the ordering process was very confusing. The menu is combined with the menu from Thong Dong 2 so be sure to only look for options from the correct menu. Why they have the other menu attached, I don’t know. We arrived shortly after 8am and they said they were out of items we wanted to order like the cake. I guess they just didn’t make it. I got the banh mi which tasted like tomato tofu on bread, not the flavors I typically expect from banh Mi like cilantro, pickled vegetables, etc. so I was disappointed but maybe that’s my lack of knowledge of regional variations. My friend said the pancakes were good but not remarkable… she said they tasted like pancakes she makes at home.

Fresh food and peaceful atmosphere - Edit
We ordered so many different dishes from Thong Dong and all were delicious - so delicious that we returned several times. The glass noodles, creamy spaghetti and banana cake were highlights and I’d definitely recommend trying those.
Read moreThe staff make the cafe so welcoming. It’s lovely and relaxing, and great for finding calm and comfort if you’re feeling down. When we visited, the cafe also had three adorable and well looked-after cats.
Pros: Delicious food, Kind staff, Cats!!
Cons: Sometimes wait is longer because of popularity

Lovely cafe with a great choice of vegan options, all delicious - Edit
We loved Thong Dong and actually went 3 times over our long weekend stay. We found lots of other vegan places were closed. The atmosphere is nice, with some cute kitties, good service and delicious food. So many options to choose from, and they even gave a small discount when we had to wait a little longer for food!

Lovely restaurant! - Edit
This restaurant is one of the most beautiful places to be in all of Sapa with its big bookcase and handwritten messages all over the walls. The food is also really good! We came here for one breakfast and two dinners so we obviously liked it. The pasta dishes were really good but the curry was even better. The bahn mi for breakfast, as well as the pancakes and smoothie bowl were so nice as well. The only thing that could have been better were the deserts.

Average food and drinks - Edit
I came here based on the raving reviews, but having lived in Vietnam for 4 years, I am not impressed by the food. The fried springrolls were particularly disappointing. Too soft, extremely oily and not authentic.
Read moreWe also tried the chocolate cookies but they were not nice either. Very soft and dry.

A Peaceful Vegan Oasis in Central Sapa - Edit
Tucked away in central Sapa, Thong Dong offers a peaceful escape with calm music and a no-children policy that keeps the atmosphere quiet. The hosts are incredibly kind, and the vegan dishes are both flavorful and beautifully presented. Ideal spot for anyone looking to enjoy a slow, mindful meal in a serene setting.
