Good vegan Vietnamese food

Finally, a Vietnamese where you can order any dish even as a vegan without having to watch out for hidden ingredients. We come here almost every week to order takeout. We've tried a few things on the menu and like some more, some less. But our number 1 is definitely the rice noodles with soy meat - super tasty! Unfortunately, we have experienced several times that during the actual opening hours, even after several attempts, no one answers the phone.

Pros: good value for money, great choice for vegans

Cons: the ambience is not very cozy

Maybe lunch

I went on a Sunday night and it was pretty quiet. They offer a lunch buffet which might be a better option.
Staff were really nice and the food was okay. I had spring rolls which were plentiful if a little oily.
I had a noodle dish for the main (recommended) and it disappointing. It had mock meat and veg but I was really not sure what it was meant to be taste-wise.
A decent option.

Pros: Staff, Chojce

Cons: A little bland , Oily

good vietnamese food

The interior, as other reviews mention already, is a bit frumpy. But it's clean and bright, so not a bad atmosphere to eat in. Buffet was available, but it's quite a small selection. I chose the appetizer salad, the rice noodle soup and the dessert.

The salad was definitely the best part. The soy meat was cut into fine strips and meshed well with the greens. For all cilantro-haters: You get asked if you want cilantro on your food (I love cilantro though)! The soup was nice, quite a big portion with two different kinds of soy meat and those fake shrimp. Sprouts, mint, Thai basil, lime and chilli were served on the side. Nobody told me what to do with that so I just threw it all into the soup and felt a bit awkward about that. Loved the dessert, which is made from coconut milk, mung beans and tapioca pearls.

The staff was very friendly and quick.

good value for money

Had summer rolls, spring rolls and “coconut paradise” curry. The summer rolls were tasty but a bit chewy. Spring rolls were really good. Curry was decent.
Atmosphere wasn’t very inspired.
Overall good value for money.

Pros: good pricing , great spring rolls

Cons: not so great atmosphere

Nothing special

The menu looks promising but the food actually was only „ok“. The interior feels cold. Maybe for a quick lunch it’s ok.

Pros: Nice staff

Cons: Not very cozy

Lecker, Frisch, Freundlich

Absolut ok.

Ich kann dieses kleine Restaurant nur empfehlen!

Pros: frisch, günstig, lecker

Cons: nix!

Won‘t come again

The food was boring and missing spices, both dishes we had. Also the interior is not very cozy. There are many much better Vietnamese alternatives in Hamburg.

Pros: Cheap

Cons: Nothing special

Vietnamese for vegans

They’ve got vegan soy meat that particularly tastes like Vietnamese salami, I can tell from growing up in a Vietnamese kitchen.

Pros: Great options , Very traditional tasting , Great prices

Cons: Not very fresh when it comes to fried veggies

great authentic Vietnamese restaurant

Thoi Lai Quan is a Vietnamese restaurant. All is vegan except the condensed milk for the coffee and honey. We started with two fresh summer rolls filled with soy meat, rice noodles, iceberg lettuce, and mint. Also, two fried springs rolls filled with vegetables and soy meat (4.50 euros for four spring rolls). The sweet and salty peanut sauce was delicious. We also had “Green garden” (7.50 euros). It came with tofu, soy meat, many vegetables roasted in soy sauce, onions, and fresh cilantro. And we shared “Coconut Paradise” (7.90 euros). It came with tofu, sweet potatoes, curry, peanuts, fried onions, and fresh coriander. What a great and delicious combination! There is a buffet offered from Tuesday to Saturday from 12:00-16:00 for 6.90 euros.

Mittagstisch ganz ok

tasty + affordable vegan food

I really like this Restaurant. The food is fresh and yummy! I like both: the buffet and the a la card food. The owners are super nice and friendly.
My favorites are: Sommerrollen, Bin Thit Nuog Chay and homemade Lemonade or their Tea.
Check out their Facebook Page before visit the Thoi Lai Quan- they let you know if they need to close the Restaurant.

Pros: only vegan food

Just okay

We ate here in the evening - the menu selection was quite varied but all dishes are very focused on meat substitutes, there was nothing more vegetable-based which I found disappointing. The food we chose was ok, fairly flavoursome but nothing spectacular or that we would hurry to return for.

Pros: Reasonable priced

Cons: Service not over-friendly

Good Lunch

We came here for the lunch buffet on a recent trip to Hamburg. Very casual feel in the afternoon, more like a cafe. Buffet was inexpensive at 6 euro and although the food wasn't mind blowing, it was .o.k. There was a courgette soup, rice, several dishes containing tofu, other meat substitutes, or just veg. I ate quite a lot, because it tasted nice and I could pick and choose. We arrived at 1pm on a Thursday, and there was only another couple in there, but the food was a bit lukewarm - could do with a better warming system. I'm not sure what the evening a la carte menu is like, but for a cheap, filling vegan lunch, this did the trick.

Pros: Great value for money, Tasty, Filling

Cons: Lukewarm

Different and nice

We ate the lunch buffet and were both very satisfied. Yes, everything is very mild and light, but they have condiments on the table and you can adjust the food to your taste. We both had second helpings from the buffet, but did not feel wheight down as it is the case with richer food. The price is unbeatable and the atmosphere is simple, clean and friendly.

Pros: great price, light and tasty dishes, clean and friendly

not as good as expected

If you are used to the choice of great Vietnamese restaurants in Berlin, you will be very disappointed. The food tastes mediocre. At least we got full.

Best vegan offer in Hamburg

I've already became a regular customer and I bring my friends with me - for 5,90 you get a buffet which includes a daily soup, rice, and 6 different dishes, most of them with tofu or saitan, probably the best vegan offer in Hamburg. The menu is also quite cheap, but I went there only during day time when you get the buffet deal (even of Saturday, which is quite remarkable). I can't remember seeing cheaper prices in Berlin as well. The food is quite good and fresh (no gourmet, but still very enjoyable and you can try more then one dish) - the buffet if being refilled constantly.
It's important to say that the buffet is completely vegan each time. I haven't memorized the menu but I can't remember seeing a dairy product there - so vegans, come and help fill up this place because it doens't seem like they have too many customers, and it is one of the only vegan places in easten-Hamburg, so I'll be very disappointed if they'll have to close down.

Pros: Best value, Buffet with a good variety, In eastern Hamburg

Cons: Decoration is not their strongest side

Superb Food

Loved the evening menu here. Don't be deterred if you miss the lunch buffet. It's quiet in the evenings, but the food is delicious. Not overly spiced, delicate, carefully prepared by the Vietnamese chef. Lovey, clean, fresh restaurant. Very close to the U3 line too!

Pros: Delicate carefully prepared food, Inexpensive , Calm, peaceful restaurant

Authentic and delicious!

Thoi Lai Quan serves a range of Vietnamese vegetarian and vegan dishes. Not only is the food very tasty and reasonably priced, but also very authentic. I have lived in Vietnam for quite a while and of the many Vietnamese restaurants I have been to in Germany, Thoi Lai Quan offers the most delicious and authentic vegetarian/vegan food. Try e.g. the Bun Thit Nuong Chay (don't be surprised, it is meant to be served lukewarm) or the Bun Bo Hue and the Vietnamese iced coffee. Service is nice and friendly, too. In addition to the regular a la carte menu, lunch buffet is offered Mon-Sat, 11am to 4 pm, which I haven't had the chance to try yet.

Pros: Awesome vegan and vegetarian food, Authentic Vietnamese cuisine, Friendly and quick service

decent food for budget price

Nice little place with a lunch buffet, due to its small size perhaps not the most exuberant selection to choose from, depends on your expectations. We went there one mid-week afternoon between 15h and 16h hours and they were still restocking the buffet for us even though the place wasn't exactly busy any longer, which we thought was nice. We enjoyed the food and thought it was tasty (but it wasn't very hot/spicy if that's what you are after) and left with a full tummy, thinking that those 6 Euros per head were well spent.

Pros: decent food for budget price, easy to get to with public transport, friendly staff

Hier is(s)t man vegan.

Absolute Weiterempfehlung!

Pros: Veganes Essen - Superlecker, Preis, Sauberkeit
