Try the Korean Tacos! - Edit
I had the Korean Tacos and they were so delicious!! So filling of different flavours and creative. In summer, it must be beautiful there, but even on a misty day it was nice!

Lots of vegan options - Get the garlic fingers - Edit
Get the garlic fingers! Comes with a vegan garlic sauce so just sub for vegan cheese. Vegan donair is ok but I don't love how sweet donair sauce in general is so it's more of a personal preference - no hate to the donair.
Read moreThe rice bowl was basically fried rice but was very tasty. It came in a container that was way too big so it looks like a small portion in my picture but it was a good size.

Incredible food and focus on supporting local - Edit
I had the vegan Donair (a NS specialty) and it was absolutely incredible, my (picky! husband had the lentil burger and loved it. There wasn’t a huge vegan selection, but the options that were available were flavourful, delicious, and unique. I really liked that this restaurant has a big focus on supporting local farmers and even had pasta straws! We sat on the patio that overlooks the Alderney ferry station and the Halifax Harbour- my daughter loved watching the boats in the harbour.

There are several vegan options and additional items that can be made vegan. The Seitan Donair is absolutely delicious! The prices are very reasonable; lower than I expected given the location and portion size. I will go back again!

I had their vegan pizza, garlic fingers, and nachos. THEY WERE ALL PHENOMENAL 😍😍 I highly recommend the pizza, also they have good drinks and you can tell their staff is well informed about the vegan options

Read moreThe Dartmouth location of the Wooden Monkey is just as delicious as the Halifax one. The service was extremely impressive, I think our waiter may have been the nicest waiter I have ever had. The food is prompt, hot and just plain delicious. I love the location as well. The atmosphere is comfortable and very stylish. You even get to look out over the harbour and see the ferry go back and forth. I really appreciate the selection of vegan meals they offer at both locations. The seitan donair is my absolute favourite.

Second visit to the Wooden Monkey and it was super. Vegan nachos were tasty and fresh - garlic bread was yummy. The grilled sweet pita takes were yummy and the quinoa bowl with tofu was great.

Get the Seitan sandwich ! - Edit
I always enjoy my food at the wooden monkey, I love how they actually have a number of good vegan options despite not being a vegan place. I’ve tried many things on their menu over the years but the seitan sandwich is always my favourite (be sure to ask to substitute vegan cheese!). Staff are always friendly and efficient.

We’re new to Nova Scotia, me being vegan in Ontario was a little rough because there was barely any vegan restaurants or vegan option, so moving out here and seeing the amount of options is incredible. The wooden monkey did not let me down with their tasty food and friendly service!
