Best vegan pub food in the area!

We saw a recommendation for this place on Surrey Vegans and with the lovely weather today couldn’t pass up the chance to go and check it out ourselves. Bletchingley is a beautifully old village and the pub itself is posited to be as old as 1388! It definitely retains its character inside.

The staff were SO welcoming and kind and as soon as I asked about vegan options they showed me their menu, most of which can be veganised (barring I think one or two fish dishes).

Aside from the menu they let us know they also offer a vegan Sunday roast and fish and chips! We both ordered the fish and chips and were shortly notified they were out of stock of the banana blossom as they had actually had more vegan guests than non-vegan today! How can you be disappointed by news like that? Always happy to hear it!

I went for the vegan roast and my partner had the veggie nachos (a very generous portion you’ll see). The nachos can be veganised by swapping the cheese for vegan. The roast was delicious, proper comfort pub food with a brilliant mushroom Wellington! We shared a chocolate and salted caramel torte for dessert which was insanely delicious. You can tell the chef was passionate about vegan food and was happy to chat with us about it too.

Menu items: Vegan pie, lasagne, fish and chips, roast dinner (mushroom Wellington or nut roast), nachos and a range of desserts including double chocolate pudding and a chocolate and caramel torte.

We’ll definitely be back to try the vegan fish and chips and do not hesitate to recommend this place to anyone in the area or people looking for a nice day trip out in Surrey!

Pros: Excellent food, majority of menu is veganisable, Filling portions, Nice vibe and friendly staff

Cons: None (would be great if 100% vegan)
