Flapjack

Grabbed a vegan apricot flapjack for a takeaway - we were given two bags (paper so eco-friendly, phew) as it was so soft and syrupy but no complaints as it was delicious and I didn't mind the undignified approach towards eating it - just have a tissue on hand and accept you will be picking crumbs off the bag. The texture was fall-apart in a good way, it was super fresh, light but fulfilling without being stodgy. I ate it all within an hour and have no regrets.

Pros: Really awesome portion size

Cons: Limited vegan options

A favourite of mine

A favourite stop of mine while walking or cycling the Exe Valley trail. Situated by the Exeter canal in a peaceful location. Seating available inside or in a sheltered courtyard.
Always a lovely welcome. Young families with or without dogs particularly welcome.
Food excellent with vegan, vegetarian and omnivorous choices available. Portions are generous especially the cakes.
Doesn’t appear to be licenced but tea, coffees, juices and smoothies available.
Totally recommended.

Pros: Friendly staff, Willing to change dishes for individual requiremen

Cons: Can be crowded if weather is poor.

Cosy cafe - perfect spot for brunch, lunch or cake

This is a cosy cafe in a gorgeous riverside spot with lovely staff. Generous portions and inventive options for brunch - I had the crushed peas on sourdough with grilled tomatoes and mushrooms. They also do a LOVELY vegan chocolate cake, and a lush apricot flapjack. Loads of options for veggies for breakfast and lunch options. The non-vegan cakes are HUGE! A definite recommendation to pair up with a canal walk or after the park run. There is a lovely sun trap garden if you get the right day for it,too.

Pros: Great value, Lovely cake, Cosy atmosphere
