Truly Amazing Experience - Edit
Absolutely delightful. Once again, Purple Cow brought us to this location. The food was incredibly tasty. Homemade. AND they have hard Kombucha. Yum, yum,yummy!!! We will be back. The vide is great.

The Village has a unique and inviting experience, with clean interior and friendly servers. I tried the elote, the village roll, and the “fish” tacos. All of them were excellent and exceeded expectations- not to mention they came out in excellent timing. I will definitely be back!

Read moreThe listed items on the menu all sounded good between the Mexican dishes and the Japanese dishes. We went with the Japanese…and an order of the Fish Tacos (two/order), just to be certain.
We started with the Tempura Veggies, which was a nice way to start our meal.
For the entree we went with the Tempura Crab Roll and The Village Roll. Of the two The Village Roll was our favorite but we liked the flavors of the two. The Village Roll wasn’t as dense and had a bit more flavor.
The Fish Tacos were good but weren’t as full of flavors as the rolls, which is why I recommend choosing the Japanese dishes. Not enough of a sample to make this decision, So we’ll have to try this place again next time we’re in town! 😋

This is one of the BEST vegan restaurants I've been to in California. The last time I found vegan mole enchiladas at a restaurant was in Mexico City, so I was stoked to see it on the menu here. Delicious! We also ordered the Volcano roll which was amazing. The atmosphere is lovely. They had a guitarist playing very nice music. They also serve drinks including hard kombucha.

This is a truly vegan RESTAURANT (not a stand or a food truck) that cares about animals, HEALTH, and are anti-discrimination. We should be praising and supporting businesses like this. Where I live in Ventura, we have a "vegan" sushi place that's literally a little stand in a busted food court with extremely low overhead, where the owners are not even vegan or vegetarian, where they've effectively fired every vegan employee that worked there, where employees have spoken out about sexual harassment in the workplace, where management has been caught serving non-vegan food - and vegans (not me ☝️) still support this business - and their sushi prices are the SAME as this beautiful restaurant. Those kinds of businesses are just taking advantage of charging way too much for vegan food and don't care about animals at all. But this biz is a real one! 🌱🌱🌱 I will be back!!!

I ordered the Baked Roll to-go. I can’t speak for the service/in-house experience, but I enjoyed the roll. However, $16 for one roll is steeeeep for such a small amount of food. I probably won’t return for that reason alone.

A welcoming vegan establishment - Edit
I really like the variety of food options from the Mexican dishes to the sushi. The elote is a tasty appetizer and the chorizo tacos were filling and delicious. I liked the creative sushi options too. I look forward to trying out some of the other menu items in a future visit. The restaurant itself is spacious, the decor is nice and the restaurant has a good vibe from the patrons to the staff. The staff are friendly and welcoming which was a nice experience. I would highly recommend checking this place out and support a small and independently owned vegan restaurant.

The servers are not responsive after I told him the toilet handle is broken and took me a few minutes to make it work. Only got an “Ok.” and he still standing around not doing anything about it.
Read moreMy friend and my entree came out 15 minutes apart. I waited and luckily I order sushi so no need to ask serve to reheat my food. I think even if I ask, nothing would be done or ended another 15 minutes wait. It took me about 10 minutes to get the wasabi for my sushi. (Isn’t it odd the sushi not served with wasabi in the first place?!). Other than the sushi that has overly sweet sauce (I guess that is the reason to serve it without wasabi.) on it rest of the food was bland.
I ordered dessert. When serving the dessert the server left the empty plates on out tiny table.
I would not recommend this restaurant to others because I am not returning.

This Mexican and Japanese joint is the definition of original and delicious. Upon arriving at this restaurant, I had no idea what to expect. I really wondered how they would successfully blend the flavors of Japanese cuisine with Mexican AND MAKE IT VEGAN! However, they completely blew my mind with their combinations and I would absolutely recommend to anyone! Must try! I read a few reviews that said it was bland? I don’t know what they ordered but the village and the chimichanga were no where close to bland, and I’m from LOUISIANA! Definitely something on the menu for anyone to love and enjoy!

Meh. It wasn’t the most expensive or most disgusting place, but we tried several entrees and not a single one really tasted good. Not very flavorful. Also there was a woman who appeared to work there who had an off leash dog that approached our table once which was really odd to say the least.

I love both cuisines, so I had to try this place. While they serve both cuisines, there isn’t a lot of fusion, and the menus are separate.
Read moreFor a Mexican dish, I chose the Enchiladas Verdes. It tasted fresh and healthy, but the verde sauce was a bit too spicy for my liking. There were also bits of sunflower shells (yes, just the shells) in the dish. I don’t know what they were doing there, but they were unpleasant to eat.
I ordered two Japanese rolls to go: the Village Roll and the raw Ceviche Roll. The village roll was my favourite: super flavourful with just the right amount of spice. The Ceviche roll was mild and light, a perfect contrast to the previous roll.
Overall, the food is delicious and healthful. I preferred the Japanese rolls more, but then again, I haven’t had much of the Mexican menu to really judge.

A Great Combo and Selection of Mexican and Japanese Dishes - Edit
The venue is probably an old diner but there is lots of glass and a peaked ceiling in the front. The furnishing are sparse but well appointed. The food is the important thing - it is fresh, flavorful and the fact that both Mexican and Japanese food are served one would think one would suffer at the expense of the other, but The Village could serve either and be successful. The portions are ample and the service was prompt and attentive. The owner came by our table several times to make sure we were satisfied with everything. This is not gourmet Vegan food but is authentic and delicious.
