Small grocer offering fresh produce as well as a selection of faux meats, plant cheeses, non-dairy milks and butters. Also offers frozen vegan options. Open Mon-Sat 7:00am-10:00pm, Sun 7:00am-9:00pm.
I always wanted to check this place out, but the word ābarnā doesnāt tend to generate interest in this vegan. But after a year of living in the area I finally checked it out and am so happy I did! The organic produce selection is great, but there are so many otherwise hard to find vegan items stuffed into the shelves and freezers here! I didnāt have a lot of time so I just scanned the perimeter and found some vegan cheeses I usually have to go into the city to get, similarly or cheaper priced, frozen treats and some vegan/organic snacky stuff. Stuff that I usually go to Orchard Grocer for! I also found packaged fresh!! pasta from italy that has no eggs. I used to live in italy where most of the fresh pasta is egg-free and it frustrates me to no end that almost all the fresh pasta in the states has eggs in it. There were many varieties here that were simply semolina and water. Straight from italy. Iām super impressed and canāt wait to go back and check out more of the inner aisles!
Village Barn is a neighborhood grocery store with a decent amount of vegan and vegetarian options, in my opinion.
There is a good selection of refrigerated and frozen faux meats and faux meat products (field roast, beyond meat, tofurky, etc), tofu, seitain, tempeh. They also carry dairy-free cheeses, butters, yogurts, milks, ice cream etc. The frozen section has Amyās, Gardein, Sunshine Burgers, Morning Star and some others to choose from. They also sell fresh fruit, vegetables, salad, and other āregularā groceries. Many of their packaged products are vegan also (also organic).
There is also an aisle with cruelty-free products, green products, and organic household items (soap, laundry detergent, cleaning products, sunscreen, etc).
The deli has some prepared foods that are vegan as well - a variety of bean salads, potatoes, roasted vegetables, and rice dishes. They also have vegetable sushi rolls right next to the deli in the refrigerated case that I think are good.
There is a small bakery area that has very good fresh bread and rolls. They do sell cakes and pies but I didnāt notice if those were vegan or not.
Overall the store has a lot to choose from if you are vegan, a strictly clean eating plant-based, or vegetarian. Although they do sell meat and dairy products also - I do feel like you really can find what you need here if you are vegan. Itās a good option if I donāt feel like heading to Trader Joeās or Whole Foods.
