Delicious - Edit
Small stand inside Mitsukoshi Ginza mall, but offers many vegan sweets, including Xmas vegan cakes. I tried the vegan pudding and the orange vegan cheesecake, both insanely delicious, isn’t a cheap place, but definitely worth.

The store offers typical western pastrylike strawberry shortcake and mont blanc. I really enjoyed the soy-based cream in the chestnut cake.

Japanese chestnuts have a uniquely rich and gentle sweetness, so we’re glad you enjoyed their special flavor.
All of our cakes are made to be enjoyed just like classic Western sweets, while still being gentle on the body.

Lovely treat - Edit
So so tasty the strawberry shortcake and tiramisu are the best I’ve ever had! The location was kind of random, it is in a department store so you have to eat elsewhere. Also a bit pricey for how small the treats are, but everything was delicious. We ate on the terrace and it was incredible.

Delicious but expensive - Edit
I had to buy three of their cakes. It was such a temptation to have all these vegan goodies. I bought the cheesecake, the seasonal sponge and the tiramisu. All were delicious. The tiramisu was my favourite. They were very small cakes so quite expensive since they were each over $10 a piece.

A Must-Visit Vegan & Gluten-Free Cake Shop in Tokyo - Edit
I finally visited the vegan marshmallooow in Ginza and I’m so glad I did!
Read moreEverything here is vegan and gluten-free, and they use Japanese rice flour and local ingredients—you can really taste the difference.
I tried the vegan matcha cake and it blew me away. The matcha has that deep, slightly bitter flavor I love, but the cake is so light and the cream is perfectly smooth and not too sweet.
Best part? There’s a free seating space on the 9th floor, so you can sit down and enjoy your cake right away—such a relaxing little spot above the busy streets.
If you’re heading out of Japan, don’t miss their vegan & gluten-free cookie tins at Haneda Airport Terminal 3. They make the cutest (and tastiest!) souvenir to bring home.
I’m not even fully vegan and this place totally impressed me—definitely worth a visit!

Disappointing - Edit
After the great reviews I was so excited to try their bakes! I bought a brownie, a muffin and some biscuits. The biscuits were lovely, but the brownie and muffin were so dry & tasted artificial, like something you'd expect to get in a convenience store. Maybe I tried the wrong things :(

Expensive But Worth It! - Edit
Had some trouble finding the stall as the food court in the mall was huge, eventually found them and they had a lot of options.
Read moreAfter browsing around we decided to get the strawberry creamcake, a peach cheesecake, and a tin of cookies. total order came out at around ¥5000, which yes is a lot for 2 rather small cakes and a tin with 14 cookies. But I felt it worth supporting them on their mission making vegan desserts that makes others feel healthy and happy by using carefully selected ingredients. The woman behind the counter was also really nice and asked us if we were vegan, where we came from, how long we would stay in Japan, and also told us there is a terrace on the 9th floor where we can enjoy our cakes!
The cakes themselves were honestly really good, I tried savouring every bite as they were kinda small. The cookies in the tin are also really good!

The Best Vegan Cakes in Japan - Edit
As someone with experience in baking, I can confidently say that what the vegan marshmallooow is doing is nothing short of incredible. Their cakes are made using Japanese rice flour, which is far more difficult to work with than the typical gluten-free flours used out country and overseas. It takes real skill to get the texture right—and they’ve absolutely mastered it.
Read moreWhat’s more, their cakes don’t just meet vegan standards—they exceed expectations. They taste even better than many traditional vegan cakes, and they’re on par with cakes that use butter and other animal-based ingredients. I can only imagine the amount of dedication and refinement it took to reach this level. Truly impressive craftsmanship.

Perfect orange cheesecake - Edit
Friendly service and a beautiful selection of European and Japanese sweets, including vegan nama chocolate, assorted cookie boxes, puddings and cakes. I tried the strawberry shortcake that everyone talks about and the orange cheesecake. The latter was my favourite - it actually tasted like a no-bake cheesecake, not the usual vegan cashew cream variations. All in all, a great shop both for treating yourself and finding gifts.

I had such a fantastic time discovering The Vegan Marshmallooow in the Ginza Mitsukoshi department store basement! If you're looking for incredible vegan sweets in Japan, you absolutely have to stop by this counter.

We tried the mango and coconut pudding and the strawberry shortcake.
Read moreBoth were really tasty, really well decorated, and I’m certain you’d be able to feed these to a non-vegan and they wouldn’t have a clue unless they really craved that fresh udder juice taste in their whipped cream.
There was a really large selection of cakes in the display cabinet, and they also had an assortment of different biscuits, cookies etc. on the counter as well as some tasty orange muffins.
The staff were so friendly and seemed genuinely excited when they asked if we were vegan and said yes! Even though it’s in a fancy department store, the prices are still really reasonable for anyone used to U.K./London kinda prices.
How to find The Vegan Marshmallooow:
Enter the department store building and head to the escalators. It is located in the food hall area on the 2B floor, so you need to go down twice. Once you come off the escalator, it’s it’s pretty much the second stall on your left, so walk left towards the wall and you’ll find it.
