The special french fries were delicious. The meat and greens were so salty that it was almost not edible. The cashier was super friendly and helpful. Their website is not helpful because it needs updating on basic information: phone and menu.

Okay for faux meat/cheese eaters - Edit
They do offer a kale salad, but that's really "it", if you don't want fake meat or cheese. For what it is, it's probably fine, but there are a lot of unhealthy options for vegans in Oakland already. Not my kind of place.

I couldn't believe they have Philly Cheese Steak! - Edit
Coincidentally, I was heading to a place in Oakland which was purported to have great pizza and I parked up the street spying The Veg Hub on my way to pizza. Well, I never made it to pizza ... I had a glance at The Veg Hub's menu and decided that dinner was going to be Philly Cheese Steak, instead. Delicious! I was sad that I had room for only that because the menu looks so great (if you like sandwiches/American food/comfort food). I will be back there as soon as I can justify the trip there.
Read moreThe service was terrific, I really liked the woman who took my order. She was funny, polite and informative. Although I couldn't go inside, the place looked organized and clean. And they have a lot of interesting looking side dishes which I'm sorry I didn't have extra people with me in order to order, as well.
It was a great experience! Be warned that they're practicing 7th Day Adventists and not open Friday, Saturday or Sunday. It's worth it to get there Monday - Thursday!
Make sure you also order the ginger/hibiscus cooler!
Pros: All vegan, American food with generous portions., Very polite
Cons: Covid y'all -- no dining in., I'm not a fan of take out.

Veg Hub Never Misses - Edit
My 2nd time around to Veg Hub (1st time blogging it), and it never misses. I guess because of quarantine, they only served pre-set items on the menu. Generally you go off the wall menu and build your own "sammich." So I choose the "King of Philly!" Absolutely delicious! What I love about Veg Hub is their steak can fool anyone it's real...but it's 100% plant-based. 5 stars!

Pricey with only delivery option in today's world. Pretty fast prep and delivery took the maximum time. Still reasonably warm at arrival.
Decent sandwich with Dutch crunch instead of a traditional classic Italian roll, which I miss. Decent flavor just wish there was more cheese and the peppers added a small bit of heat.
Nice plate but a bit salty. Reasonable representation of ribs. Pretty good mac and cheese compared to others. Greens was my portion of "healthy"

I'm getting to know the menu more each time I go, trying different combinations and sides. Their vegan food will satisfy folks who prefer more rich or "cheesy" fare. There are also salads and veggies, for those who are looking for lighter flavors. Everything is made to order and take out is popular here. Decor is not fancy, focus is on the food and a place where it's easy to relax. Prices are about average for good vegan food.
Read moreUpdate: went last night and waited 30 minutes for food- we had a support group out there! Returned to car to find windows smashed and work laptop bag stolen out of closed covered hatchback. Had parked in lot behind the place. Won't be parking there again unless I can have eyes on my car. Barely tasted my food after I calmed down :(

Lovely neighborhood spot featuring veggie meats smothered on sandwiches or on top of hearty salads. We had Philly Cheeze Steak on Dutch crunch with the classic topping and jalapenos and it was over the top delicious. And the Spinach mushroom melt on top of salad with the Marinara topping which was hearty and healthy. Gotta try this place!

This Oakland based "food-social" start up truly does vegan eating Justice! We had the pleasure of visiting their newly opened brick and mortar cafe during their soft opening, with only sandwiches and some sides available. The food was so deliciously good that we are now regulars! Order at the counter, and watch your meal being prepped in the open kitchen concept. You decide your sandwich base, choosing type of bread - wrap, quesadilla, gluten free or a no-bread organic salad blend option, in which you choose the veggies from the salad bar on which to build your base. Next add your topping, from a seitan Philly cheese melts (steak classic, Italian, Bar-B-Q, spinach mushroom) to Gourmet Chicken (fried, jalapeño ranch, mozarella, sweet teriyaki). Extras/sides offered were hubster fries, cheese steak fries, hubster nachos, sesame kale salad, chips.

A very generous portion side of cheesesteak fries was shared with others, who enjoyed their shoe string cut as much as I did. One of my companions praised his choice of the Bar-B-chew as a wrap as being delicious. Our other diner, who stubbled upon the cafe while in the neighborhood the week before, & recommended it to us for lunch, enjoyed his quesadilla based cheesesteak. Planted dinners, and their amazingly creamy delicious mac & cheese, are only available during evening hours, after 5pm.
Service was friendly, knowledgeable & quick, despite everything being freshly prepped as ordered. Very relaxed atmosphere. The VegHub's socially responsible business plan focuses on the educational ethics of serving good, healthy vegan food, while offering cooking classes to families & kids, an after-school program for the kids & jobs in the area, with future profits being shared on community projects. Ingredients are locally sourced as much as possible, much of it being made in-house. Ample on street metered parking out front and nearby. Shares a parking lot out back, however entrance is only through the front. Conviently located near Fruitvale exit off I-580. Small, neat, very clean cafe, well lit. Never gets old; food always deliciously tasty, filling, very reasonably priced.

Found this place by accident when we were heading to a baseball game and wanted to eat dinner (no ballpark hot dogs for me!). Nice little sandwich restaurant with some different dinner choices after 5pm.

I went when it first opened and we loved the sandwiches and the salads. Again today we got a sandwich, a wrap, and a salad. Everything is fresh and cooked to order, and delicious. It takes about 10 minutes to get your grub so plan ahead if needed. Really great service, too.
