Will also swap a portobello mushroom cap for any burger. Fried green tomatoes are also listed as vegan on the menu. Staff is knowledgeable and open to questions. Love this place - Edit
Finding this place was a treat in this tourist town of Helen. Wife had “that’s a wrap” delicious veggie wrap and said it was one of the best wraps she ever had. My custom made Reuben had a beyond Pattie. Amazing. Everywhere on the menu they had notes for vegan and vegetarian. Nice people serving great food. It was packed with customers which is often an indicator of a good place to eat.

Burnt food, overpriced - Edit
Got the vegan bratwurst platter. The sausages were burnt black on one side. The red cabbage was so vinegary I couldn't eat it (and I love this kind of thing normally). We had to sub fries because the mashed potatoes are not vegan and we're still charged an extra $3 for basic frozen fries you can get at Walmart. The sauerkraut was ok.
Read moreSo it was $25 for a plate of what looked like cafeteria food. Definitely not worth it. Maybe there's something better on the menu? The patio was nice to sit on at least and the servers were nice.

Few options - Edit
Not many options but the vegan bratwurst was very good, last hot meal for a while on a long road trip so very glad we stopped here.

Good for a place with few options - Edit
I got the vegan bratwurst and my partner got a beyond burger. They were both pretty good. It was really hard to find vegan food in rural Georgia so I was glad to find this place but I agree with others that there are few options, though they are clearly marked.

So many upcharges - Edit
My friend and I split the cauliflower bites. None of the sauces were vegan, so I just ate them with ketchup. They were pretty good. For my main I got the vegan bratwurst with grilled onions and green beans instead of their mashed potatoes (which aren't even vegetarian). It was $2 for the vegan sausage, $1 for the grilled onions, and $3 for the green beans even though they were a substitute. Glad they have vegan options but at this price it just isn't worth it.

Pros: Vegan options labelled , Seating by the river
Cons: Expensive

Oh so yummy. - Edit
Food is amazing. Items are pretty well marked what’s vegetarian and vegan. The vegan bratwurst is amazing. It doesn’t have bratwurst listed as vegan but it does say on the menu that you can request for a vegan version. My server was great and gave a list of what could be substituted in the place of the mashed potatoes. The mashed potatoes are not only non vegan but also not vegetarian friendly either. Over all I was super happy with my experience. Will be returning to eat here.

Vegan Options with a vegan tax - Edit
Vegan options for a brat and burger but the German potato salad that they come with is not vegan. There is a $2 charge for each substitution so a $15 menu item turned into $19 for subbing fries and the vegan sausage. International Cafe across the river had better bread (pretzel rolls) and no vegan tax.

As a vegan visiting Helen, I found myself angry at the lack of options. This place was my beacon of hope!! Seriously delicious! The vegan brat saved my life. I ate here twice in the 3 days I visited

I ordered a salad with fried cauliflower and asked for olive oil and vinegar. The fried green tomatoes are vegan. Just ask for the cheese on the side.

Vegan Food in Helen - Edit
Nice ambiance by the water. There's vegan burger, and brat options available. The fried green tomatoes are delish. They come with goat cheese, but they'll leave it off if asked. Our server was very helpful with all my questions to make sure I got a vegan meal that I was happy with.

Awesome options! - Edit
They could modify almost anything on the menu to be vegan! Fried cauliflower in place of meat in the tacos, a mushroom cap in place of a burger patty, and vegan brat which I opted for! It came on a bun with sauerkraut which I added mustard to. The brat originally comes with mashed potatoes but when you order it vegan they switch it out for fries. They were some of the best fries I’ve ever eaten! Our server was knowledgeable and friendly! I will definitely return if I’m ever in Helen again.

Vegan Friendly in Helen Georgia - Edit
I found VEGAN food in Helen Georgia!!! If you are visiting Helen for Oktoberfest or a fun day of tubing... check out the Troll Tavern! It is right in the middle of town, on the river, kinda under the bridge.
Read moreThey have a few clearly marked vegan items on the menu, and they will sub fried cauliflower on any of their tacos, and or sliced portobello, plus they will sub any of their burgers for a portobello cap... they also have a vegan bratwurst on the regular menu! Some of the sides for the brat have bacon in them (mashed potatoes and maybe red cabbage... but the staff was very knowledgeable and offers substitutes). The pretzel is vegan (confirmed no butter, just pass on the cheese sauce). We had the Thai Sweet Chili Fried Cauliflower Tacos... Original Tacos with Fried Cauliflower (hold the cheese and sour cream), and the vegan Bratwurst all were delicious! I would consider adding guacamole to the original tacos, otherwise you might find them a little dry. There is an up charge for the vegan swaps (unfortunately as usual) BUT the bill for my family of 4 was only $66.
Pros: Great location, right on the river, Several vegan options
Cons: Up charge to leave off meat and add veggie

Vegan Brat - Edit
Really tasty vegan sausage topped with sauerkraut; red cabbage for the side dish. The fried green tomatoes are good, but would be better with a vegan ranch dressing for the dip. Fried pickles are vegan too, but I didn't try them.
