Vegan option wasn’t great - Edit
I had the vegan Hot Dog and didn’t like the taste of their vegan meat replacement. It was way too mushy. The onions and mustard were good, so this may be a good place for non vegans. But since this site is vegan focused, can give this more than one star.

Fun place - Edit
I did really like this place overall, two stars for the lack of options but thank you for having something at all! The beers on tap were great and we loved sitting outside in the covered manger things so we could get away from the crowd even in the middle of winter.

Great vegan kielbasa - Edit
They have a vegan kielbasa on the menu that comes topped with caramelized onions and spicy mustard, but you can also order it like a hot dog and get whatever condiments you want (they have at least a dozen condiments that are vegan: banana peppers, sourkraut, grilled peppers, sweet pickles, etc). IMPORTANT: If you order the "build your own", one of the choices is a veggie hot dog, but the veggie hot dog is VEGETARIAN not VEGAN. If you want a vegan dog, you have to specifically order the vegan kielbasa. It costs a lot more but if you are with a non-vegan group that wants to go there, at least you know you will something delicious. There is both indoor and outdoor seating but you may prefer the outdoor seating because this place has the vibe of a serious meat restaurant, you will smell the hot dogs cooking and the name of the restaurant itself may be a turnoff once you are in there. Or, just order ahead and get it to go while walking around Portland (there are places to sit all over the place, parks, etc.) In any case, you can get a delicious vegan menu item - you will not be disappointed in that.

Not good - Edit
They have one vegan brat. She asked if I wanted a bun and I said is it vegan? She said she didn’t think so. She was nice enough to bring me the bag of buns so I could look at the ingredients. It was vegan. The brat had waaaaaay too much turmeric in it and it was inedible.

Suprisingly Vegan-Friendly - Edit
Their menu changes often, and while there aren't many vegan options, the few that they have are delicious. I had the vegan notwurst and the vegan tacos, plus a side of the coleslaw, which was also vegan. Everything was really tasty, but I think the notwurst was the standout item--yum! For some reason, there are at least 5 boxes of Trivial Pursuit cards available, and we enjoyed quizzing each other while we enjoyed our drinks. Overall a great spot to eat and drink with nonvegans or just to try out some fun vegan bar food. Definitely check out their toasttab page (linked from their website) to see what they're currently serving and if anything is out of stock.

Avoid if you’re vegan - Edit
Five of us ordered the vegan notwurst and all five of us felt it tasted off (none of us took more than a bite or two it was so bad). Another reviewer mentioned too much turmeric and that may very have been the issue. The staff at the restaurant was unconcerned which was very disappointing. On top of the vegan sausage being inedible, the bun (sold separately) is not vegan (egg wash), so what you’re paying for is a poor reproduction of a Field Roast sausage that tastes overwhelming of turmeric and is served by a staff that doesn’t seem to care. They were perfectly pleasant, just not at all responsive to our concerns(responding with “heard” when we returned to re-voice our concerns). We all left hungry.

Stay away.
Cons: Notwurst is terrible , Service is not responsive

Disappointing - Edit
Waited forever to get food. They have a vegan brat but it has so much turmeric that’s all you taste. Wouldn’t go back.

Good limited selection - Edit
The vegan not worst was really great. How ever the bun is pretty basic. You may just want to skip it.

Surprised by Vegan Options - Edit
With a name like "The Thirsty Pig," it's hard to imagine that their are vegan options here. While the choices are minimal, they are marked on the menu and are quite tasty. I had the vegan sausage with mustard and caramelized onions and a side of the vegan pasta salad. We ate outside on the deck and enjoyed a beer with our meal. A pub atmosphere with friendly employees and vegan options? I'll take it!

Decent independent, little pricey - Edit
A solid option if in need of a hot snack alongside meat eaters. Nice set of options and a great pub meets coffee shop feel; very easy going. Food is solid, but pricey for the portion size. If it was 25% cheaper I’d have give 4*.

Fabulous vegan sausage - Edit
Everything very clearly marked on menu plus vegan specials. Hummus and vegan chilli starters available. I had the homemade Seitan vegan sausage in a roll which was huge with caramelised onions and mustard. It comes with a side, the vinegar coleslaw is vegan but I had a special of chickpea pineapple relish which was really tasty. The owners are lovely people and really support vegan options alongside their usual fare ‘so everyone can eat together’ so I don’t think menu adaptations would be a problem. Gf also marked. Most innovative vegan food Ive had in 2 weeks in Maine.

If you like it salty. - Edit
I don't drink so I cannot tell you anything about the alcohol. The food is great but wicked salty ( which is to not surprise to me) because it is mostly beer food. Still a great place though quite expensive.

House-made vegan sausage & veggie dogs - Edit
Good selection of craft beer on tap, cozy booths, and clearly labeled vegan options on the menu. The vegan sausage sandwich with sauerkraut was delicious. Would be curious to try the veggie dog - starting at $6 for a build your own makes that a good deal. In warmer weather months, the back patio with outdoor seating is a nice atmosphere next to a beautiful ivy-covered brick wall. If you want a beer and some vegan pub food, this is a great spot. Order at the counter and grab your beers, then food is brought to your seat.
