Mixed Review! - Edit
Came here for food on Sunday night with my Boyfriend & a friend of ours.
Read moreThe Survice, Atmosphere & Prices were good. I ordered one of the Vegan Burgers which came with chips. The chips & what came with the burger was grate but the Burger itself did taste/seemed slightly burned.
I would give the food here another go but probably won't get the burger I had again.
The Staff we really canny & survice was really good.
The pub is very close to bus stops heading in & out of Newcastle City Center & is in a good location.
Pros: Good Survice & nice staff., Close to public transport heading into Newcastle.
Cons: Burger tasted burnt & dry.

Suet pudding was like a rock 🪨 - Edit
I think it’s great that they threw us a couple of options. But I was disappointed in the meal - the mash was like wall paper paste and the suet pudding was too hard to cut through, I ate the filling and left the rest. The veg was ok I liked the parsnip and carrot, but the rest tasted of oil. Gravy was nice. I would try their other menu, but I wouldn’t return for Sunday lunch .

It’s got great reviews from others, we might’ve caught them on a bad day 🤷♀️. It’s not just me being fussy because even my mate who I went with who can’t cook was disappointed too. The carriage has been a bit hit and miss in the past, but their dinners are definitely nicer than this (imo) even on a bad dinner day, and at least it’s fully plant-based in there too.

Good - Edit
Tip: scan the QR code on the menu to be able to see only vegan menu. Food was really tasty but came slow and chips came late. Would go here again. In the evening the lighting is not good for food photos!
Read moreUpdate Feb 2024 re Sunday dinner. They recommend booking 3 weeks ahead for Sundays. We managed to get a table for 2 by phoning. Table was 12:15 and very efficient. Food came quickly. Obviously a lot of people also collecting Sunday dinner takeaways. The waiter realised we’d been served a non-vegan yorkshire puddings and took the plate away to change it😄Lovely filling meal. Both suet pudding and mince/ dumpling options were good.

Delicious - Edit
You might have to wait a while for your Sunday lunch as the pub is so popular, but it’s worth it. Huge portion, very tasty indeed. Also very dog-friendly. Great breakfasts and evening food too

Delicious comfort, junk food - Edit
I’ve eaten in the tanners and had the takeaway a few times and have never been disappointed by what i received. HUGE portion sizes and always seasoned and topped with delicious sauces. I usually get the salt and chilli fricken and chips and it’s one of my favourite comfort takeaways to get! Would recommend because there is so many options!

Junk food fix - Edit
Thoroughly enjoyed the salt and pepper frickin fries I ordered. The dish was well seasoned and the frickin had a great texture with the hoisin and sriracha sauces a perfect accompaniment. Even my omni friend enjoyed the meal. It also arrived on recyclable packaging, which was good. The food did take a while to arrive as it was really busy, but it was well worth the wait. Staff are friendly and there's always a great vibe here with a wide selection of drinks. If you're after that junk food fix then get yourself to the Tanners.

Excellent Junk Food - Edit
Street food pub with at least half of the menu available as vegan. Burgers, hot dogs and loaded fries all imaginative and super tasty. The pub itself is cosy and welcoming.

Lots of options - Edit
Been here a couple of times as it has loads of vegan options in a classic style pub. The first time we came, they'd accidentally double salted everything - not good. They invited us back to try again and although the food was much tastier, the staff were a little rude about the first time... And my height! I've tried the salt and pepper loaded fries, the chickn burger. Also tried the Berlin disco burger and the burger with chilli.

Amazing vegan food - Edit
They do a range of vegan and omni food, both absolutely amazing, 11/10. Also have great drinks available. Bit pricey, but absolutely fair for how delicious food is and how much you get - I eat a LOT but their portions always leave me happily full. One place I always recommend to everyone, vegan or not.
