A must try! - Edit

I first tried what The Sweet Beet had to offer back in July when they were a vendor at Compassion Fest. I was floored by what I was tasting after splitting their peach cobbler whoopie pie, sweeties mini cupcakes, and cacao pow ice cream cookie sandwich with a family member! They tasted so fresh and you can tell that a lotta love went into the creation of their products. I definitely can't wait to try one of their soups (among other offerings) at their Granby location.

Pros: They travel to local vegan events , Unique creations with fresh ingredients, Non-GMO and organic

A bit pricey, but worth every penny - Edit

As a busy professional, it's difficult to find time to cook great vegan meals every night. I stop here at least once a month to pick up dinner, so happy to have this option nearby! The menu changes, but some of our favorites are the savory pie / tartlet and roasted root vegetables. They also have a selection of nut-based spread cheeses. Everything in this shop is Vegan and Gluten Free.

Pros: Extremely high quality

Cons: A bit pricey (but worth it)

Great! - Edit

The Sweet Beet is amazing! Not only are they vegan - but also soy, gluten and peanut free. The owner, Heather, is super nice - little kids wanted to hug her during our visit. The eggless salad was superb and our soup was way tasty! No soups are made twice - Heather is inspired by what is fresh and available that day! Great selection of grab and go items along with many hard to find specialty vegan products.

Pros: Soups., Reasonable prices., Large grab and go selection.

Cons: Non, Non, Non

Great food! - Edit

I love this place. Yes it is pricey compared to some other places but the food quality is exceptional. Organic, vegan, gluten free. Soup or chili is never a bad choice. Great options to take home for easy meals later. I never had the same soup twice and never had one that wasn't delicious.

Pros: great to go case

Cons: Not a lot of seating

The food here is outstanding and creative. It's one of those places that not only uses the highest quality ingredients with creativity and attention to detail with seasoning and flavors, but there is also a lot of love that obviously goes into the food - You can tell as soon as you walk in and start eating the food which is sensational. This place is worth driving to, even if it's out of the way. It's a vegan oasis not to be missed.

Pros: High quality, homemade, totally pure, Flavor and texture - outstanding, Easy in - easy out, for take-out

Cons: Pricey but worth it.

Finest organic non-gmo vegan spot in CT! - Edit

I love that this place is settled in a quiet forested town, when you walk into the store your senses are overtaken with aromas of delicious vegan delicacies coming from the kitchen and juice bar. The layout of the store is very open feeling and comfortable and has a lot of charm. The employees and owner are down to earth and very helpful and nice to talk to. The raw juices are healthy and creatively designed. Everything is just spot on as far as organic vegan non gmo plant based gets. The prices are fair, especially considering the quality of what you are getting, verrry high quality! Good service and verrry tasty vegan noms. Yummm thank you sweet beet for legit healthy vegan food! Had plenty of options for a high protein low fat low carb vegan :) can't wait to come back and try more!

Awesome find! - Edit

A few weeks ago while out riding my motorcycle around Western CT, I finally got the chance to stop by Sweet Beet-- I've been meaning to for quite some time, but being from Mass, opportunities are limited. I wish I'd done so sooner.

The cafe is more or less in the middle of nowhere. The interior is pristine and inviting, and the staff absolutely wonderful. I can honestly say that I've never felt more welcomed than I did at Sweet Beet. Everything on the menu is vegan, and the baked goods & sandwich I had were simply wonderful.

I will definitely be heading back there, and taking specific care to do so.

Pros: All-vegan: We can order anything!, Excellent food, Wonderful staff

Cons: A little off the beaten path, A hair pricy, but not unreasonably so.

Good Food but Extremely Pricy - Edit

I have had many of there baked goods and pre paired foods and I haven't been disappointed, however, the amount they charge is absurd. The mini cupcakes they have are over a dollar. If I had to change one thing it would be to lower their prices to make it affordable for everyone.

Pros: good food

Cons: pricy

wow what a great stop - Edit

we love this little vegan oasis and were so very happy with our to-go meal ! The young woman was so patient with our questions, we love going into places were we can eat anything on the menu . My husband got the chili which was so good along with 1/2 sandwich and I enjoyed a chickpea sandwich on gluten free bread ...of course desert was a highlight as well

Pros: love the decor, amazing selection

Cons: need a bigger sign by the road

very delicious and very healthy! - Edit

Those who live in the Granby area are lucky to have The Sweet Beet in town. Located on a wooded country road, it seems quite an unexpected location for such a special place to be.

I had a bowl of hot chili with cashew "sour cream" and chips, and it was excellent.

I also bought a container of beet hummus, chickpea of the sea, and original style mac and no cheese. The hummus was beautiful, as it was bright purple, and I ate it in one sitting when I got home. It was so good! The mac and no cheese was also quite good, and i'm looking forward to trying the other varieties available next time. It did not have the bogus "cheesy" flavor that some other vegan mac and cheeses have... The cheesy sauce is cashew based and is good and hearty. The chickpea of the sea salad was so good! i made sandwiches with it when I got home (Ezekiel bread, chickpea of the sea, and tomatoes) and it was delicious!

I also tried to two mini cupcakes, one was vanilla and the other was chocolate/beet, and they were both very good.

There were so many other options that I would have liked to have tried. So, i'm excited to go back and explore the variety.

There were three people working there and they were all friendly. The restaurant was very very clean and neatly organized, and the the decor was charming and old fashioned.

Next time I think i'm going to try something from the sandwich board or maybe the dish that was similar to shepherd's pie. I like that you can go in and get a hot soup and sandwich or some kind of meal to eat there, and then stock up on really fresh and high quality grab and go items to take home.

I think this might be the healthiest restaurant that I know of!!! Vegan, gluten free, organic, soy free... I think the Sweet Beet really cares about us :)

if you are from out of town you could make a plan to have lunch and then go hiking/swimming nearby such as at Ender Falls or somewhere on the metacomet trail.

Pros: Vegan/Delicious, Organic/Healthy, Very Clean/nice atmosphere/friendly staff

Good, especially for CT! - Edit

Living in Portland, Maine, one is constantly spoiled by the amount of vegan restaurants and options available. My family lives in CT, though, and when I visited they brought me to this restaurant. It was very good with extremely healthy meal options! I had the lasagna which consists of cashew ricotta, parsnip slices instead of noodles, a tasty red sauce and greens. I thoroughly enjoyed this food. The way that the restaurant is set up is very interesting, though. One walks in to see a large refrigerator filled with food in plastic boxes that can either be bought to bring home or warmed up in an oven to eat there at the restaurant (everything is vegan!). I did like that they allow people the option to buy food to bring home but I also really love freshly prepared dishes when I go out to eat. Also, I had a cupcake (they're really small) and it was just okay. I've definitely made much better vegan desserts myself. Overall I thoroughly enjoyed going here and my lasagna was scrumptious!
