Chaos

I’ve occasionally been going to The Swallows Nest for 20ish years, well before I was vegan and it’s honestly been a gradual decline in service and quality. This is the first time I’ve been in a while and first time as a vegan and it’s pretty much what I expected. Food was fine, the arancini balls were nice, but the Moving Mountains burger was dry and unexciting. The wait staff were rushed off their feet and couldn’t remember an order to save their lives, everyone in our party of six had at least one dish/drink missing or incorrect and drinks would take up to 20 minutes to arrive. The manager did, however, apologise as we finished and knocked a portion of the total from our bill, but this has happened many times in the past and never improves, so I almost expected it. Not somewhere I would choose to go to if in control.

Pros: Arancini balls were good, Lively atmosphere, but verges on chaos

Cons: Poor service, Overpriced, Little effort put into vegan offering

Disappointing!!

First time visiting the swallows nest for food. We chose to eat here because it had a vegan menu. They have 4 starters and 4 mains, although one of each was off the menu.
I chose the falafel starter and the butternut squash curry. My partner had prawn cocktail. His prawns came out translucent and frozen. Presentation wasn’t the best either, it was kind of thrown on a plate with mayo blobbed on the plate. I however enjoyed my falafel starter.
Then the mains came... I have never been served a dish that looked like how my curry came out. I am surprised the waiter didn’t question it to be honest. It was that horrible rice and curry sauce from a microwave meal - my plate was full of water and had slices on butternuts quash plonked on it, I actually thought it was slices of melon at first! Skin still on too!
I honestly hate complaining and I would of ate it despite it looking awful BUT it was raw. I couldn’t even put my fork in the squash.
The waiter and manager was lovely, very apologetic after seeing how my meal came out. I didn’t want anything after that, as there was only superfood salad or tagliatelle to choose from. We didn’t have to pay for anything - nice gesture but I still I wouldn’t return for food.

Pros: Nice pub

Cons: Expensive , Missing meals off the menu , No care or effort in presentation
