They tried, kinda! Stuff is marked "vegan," but not actually vegan

For vegans, the menu is kind of a mess! They've got one vegan entree marked (squash and wild rice with veggies) and several vegan sides marked (wedge salad, baked potato, coleslaw). But upon ordering/inquiring about dishes, we discovered that the veggies are sautéed in butter, the wedge salad is made with blue cheese and bacon, and the baked potatoes are brushed with butter. (huh?...) Also, there's a "fisherman's chowder" on the menu that is marked vegetarian, but the description lists fish, cod, etc.

So just be aware! Staff is friendly despite them being short staffed on the night we visited. Food took a while, and I found the squash to be "meh" and kinda undercooked, but that's just my opinion. They're doing their best I guess! But yeah they gotta fix those confusing vegan labels.

Pros: they seem aware that vegans exist, they have some veggies

Cons: vegan labels on menu are incorrect (dec 2021)

Delicious

They only offer 2 vegan items right now (possibly due to pandemic cut backs?) But they were good. They have a squash and wild rice dish that I was not excited about, but it was SO GOOD! Every bite I kept saying, "this is so good/flavorful." Definitely recommend

Delicious homemade food!

We really enjoy their homemade food and were impressed for a small town their willingness to embrace veg and vegan foods. A little more spendy than average in the area, but when you consider the scratch made, fresh and locally sourced ingredients, it’s totally worth it. They’ve recently upgraded their menu to be very clear on vegan options and what can be made to be vegan, which is nice. Wish there were more vegan alternatives for breakfast, although we had a great meal created with sides.
