This place is out of this world! Well worth the money. We came on a quiet Tuesday morning. THE SPACE by far was the best service and food we have had in Salem OR. We will be coming back/recommending. Didn't like some of the art however the over all atmosphere made you feel welcomed just as you are, no judgements. The service was absolutely the BEST I have ever had. She handled my 60 yrs old mother like a walk in the park. I wish I could remember her name but she did have green hair and these pretty teal cat eye glasses. And the FOOD WAS SO GOOD! We all had burgers and fries. We also took home 2 each of their donuts. Talk about the most yummiest treat EVER!

The beyond patty was amazing! Their entire menu is vegan! Sauces and flavors were exceptional! The workers were incredibly welcoming and helpful. Their donuts were soooo good!!

It's not your run of the mill location. Far from it. But the vibe is cool, the staff friendly and funny, and the food is great. The fact that they are the sole vegan restaurant in Salem is surprising, but happy that they seem to be doing well.

It’s the only all vegan place to eat in Salem! It’s nice going somewhere and actually having options. My parter is gluten intolerant as well and they have lots of those options as well. I go there on Sundays for brunch!

They are amazing! Very friendly and wonderful staff! Food is phenomenal! And they just expanded their menu! Live music. Bar. Inside and outside seating! Bomb burgers! Totchos! Vegan cheese! Just absolutely wonderful!

Only real vegan place in Salem - Edit
But, not very outwardly friendly to customers walking in for a meal. Seem more focused on the music venue. Since this is the only place around, I would think they would focus more on the menu and gathering vegan people there. The food was great for what they had. There are soooo many options in Eugene, Corvallis and Portland, so you would think they would/could take advantage of this in Salem If they don't, then they will lose business. We have been there three times in the last few months, and each time, felt we were an afterthought to their culture going on there. Maybe another vegan place will open, and that will be the end of that....or they could improve.

Yes, we are a music venue. We are owned and operated by musicians, and we regularly have music events. The chef and I are also 16 yr+ vegans and know exactly how little support there is in Salem for a vegan restaurant. We could have never done this as purely a restaurant and it is only now that so many omnivores come to shows that word has spread that we have one of the best moderately priced places to eat for anyone in town. Our mission is not just to feed vegans, but to feed everyone together and let everyone know that vegan food isn't scary or gross. Please check out the expanded menu for many new food options if you are interested in supporting what we have to offer.

Our menu is extensive now, has had a couple of updates since the original post. We have brunch 6 days/week now and are open 10am-10pm Tuesday-Sunday. Our menu was never an after thought, we simply had to start small due to being very DIY.

The Space is The Place for Community Music & Vegan Eats! - Edit
I recently moved from Oregon to Washington. I regret no longer being near The Space. I went to a show there recently and it was a spectacular set up with live music in a welcoming environment that acts like a house show with a full bar combined with an outdoor patio area featuring open sky, trees and a resident opossum(s). The delicious food comes from the only vegan establishment for a 30-mile radius and it's well worth the trek! It tastes just like home cooking. Omnivores approve of the eats when checking out a show or being on-tour. I highly recommend The Space whenever the opportunity to check out a show or dine presents itself...

Cons: Not open all the time, Not at all ages after 9pm.They're trying for 10pm., City of Salem should but hasn't promoted The Space
