OMG OMG OMG - Edit

This place, while a little hard to find (go around back!), is THE BOMB! We loved breakfast so much we hung out until they were serving lunch and got take out!! Some of the best vegan soul food in the country. Come hungry and bring extra insulin.

Pros: ALL VEGAN, AWESOME TASTE, UNIQUE

Cons: hours, eat outside, in car or take home - no indoor seats

Fried Chik'n!! - Edit

I've never had such an interesting texture and flavor of the chik'n they make - it's absolutely delicious! I got all the sides - Mac n cheese, broccoli, and baked beans. I also got a chocolate and salted caramel cupcake. Everything was $16 - pretty cheap for vegan food!! I'm going back for sureee

good vegan comfort food - Edit

Southern V is really good! I like that everything on the menu is soy free (except for the veggie scramble). The biscuits are flavorful and I don't even like gravy but the gravy was good. The potato casserole was the best! Expect a long wait but it's worth it!

An Honest Review of the V - Edit

I have been so excited to visit the Southern V. I do understand why it is so highly rated. The food was reminiscent of my Nana's kitchen growing up.The fried "chick'n" was super crispy and crunchy. The "Mac & Cheez" was really creamy & good. With that said, I adopted the vegan lifestyle to feel better and live a healthier life. I felt very "heavy" after the meal. The cupcakes had a lot of sugar and the chick'n was heavily breaded & deep fried in oil. I feel great knowing that animals were not used in my food, but I would love if they balanced their menu with some healthier, lighter soul food options too. I love family owned businesses and I really hope to see this business grow and do great things!

Pros: Great Chick'N & Mac 'N Cheez

Cons: Heavy on sugar , Iceberg lettuce Salad

Cute hole in the wall - Edit

This tiny little hole in the wall is a great place to eat if you're in nashville. We didn't realize it's only a take away restaurant with some seating outside. The food was delicious and came put fast!

Pros: all vegan

Cons: only outdoor seating

Nice Southern Vegan Food - Edit

I ordered the BBQ Rib Sammich, Broccoli, and Mac & Cheese. Everything was tasty. After you go up to the window you only have to wait for a couple of minutes and then your order is ready and accurate. I would like to come back and try more menu items when I'm back down in Nashville.

Southern gem - Edit

This is a challenge to find but find it you must. We were passing through Nashville on our way to the beach and were so glad to find this place on the app. It's in a small building behind a hair salon so don't mistake it for a house. You walk up, place your order, and wait to carry out or eat at the outside table. The menu is very limited (a couple options per day) so keep going back! We had the bbq jackfruit sliders with cole slaw on top and the best mac and cheese ever. Also had the loaded nachos with jalapenos. Ask for extra napkins! We will be back next year hopefully on a day when we can order the hot chicken!

Pros: Delicious food, fast service

Cons: No indoor space, selective menu and not anywhere n

First Time Experience - Edit

I found the Southern V via the happy cow app and have been wanting to try it out! Today was our first time and we tried the hot fried chicken, mac and cheeze, white beans, side salad, and the spaghetti. The food did NOT disappoint. I love hot food, but the hot chicken was way more HOTTER than I was expecting, but it was still delicious (just had to make sure water was very close by). I will more than likely get the regular chicken next time. This was the first vegan mac and cheeze I have tasted that didn't have the sweet, sugary taste that I don't like. So it was very refreshing to have this mac and cheeze be creamy, while not having that sweet taste to it. I cannot wait to come back and try more of their menu items. Our food came out in less than 10 minutes, so we were in and out just before it started pouring raining. If you are in the area or even visiting Nashville like we were, stop by and try them out.

Amazing Vegan Food!! - Edit

I can't say enough about how great the food is at this place. It's a family-owned and operated business with great customer service and amazingly insane vegan fare. The faux chicken is bursting with flavor, whether "hot" or "not", and the biscuits and waffles are pretty tasty too. The jackfruit nachos and mac n cheez are delicious as well. All of the vegan sweet treats are exceptional. In fact their baked goods are the best in town IMO.

The only reason I'm not giving five stars is because the first time I went I wasn't prepared for the cost due to no pricing on the website or on the white board posted outside. Because the food is a bit pricy, it's nice to have the luxury of knowing how much to plan on spending in advance. As a vegan I expect to pay more when eating at a vegan restaurant, as the ingredients are often more expensive. But I'd rather not be shocked at the window when it's time to pay. Otherwise, this place is rather amazing!!

Pros: Delicious food

Cons: No pricing listed

Best Vegan Comfort Food in Nashville - Edit

The hot chicken biscuit is so good I can't even explain! The perfect amount of spicy for me. Also the donuts and desserts are delicious. I've also had the ribz and Mac and cheez which were also to die for! Everyone who works there is so kind and wonderful. Also I've been given hot chocolate while waiting during some chilly mornings which is just too kind! Could not recommend this place more!

I love this place! - Edit

I just finished gobbling up the fried chik'n with mac and cheese and green beans. Delicious! Southern vegan comfort food- yes! And I love that it's run out of a little house, family owned and operated and you can only get it to go. Sit in your car and chow down! That totally adds to the authenticity and simplicity, to me. Love love!

Everything is delicious! - Edit

The Southern V makes some of the most delicious vegan food I have ever had! It is all comfort food, and perfect. We usually get breakfast there. Love the steak and waffles, and I haven't had any baked goods from them that weren't excellent. This weekend we went by for dinner and were blown away by their holiday themed fall menu!
I really don't know how they make their fried "chick'n" but it is so delicious. We also had dressing, sweet potatoes, mac and cheese and green, all equally good.
Keep in mind, this is all take out, but there are some tables to eat at if you don't want to take it home. They are also new and working on serving logistics. It gets better every time we go. This is a small family business and they could not be nicer.
My only wish is that they were open during the week! I'm hoping with their continued success they will be able to expand and have more hours. My favorite vegan place in Nashville, hands down!
