Delicious food and great service

I’d wanted to try the Snug for a long time but never got round to it. We decided to visit on our last day in Melbourne. We went for their Express lunch menu which has a number of vegan options at a good price.
I opted for the KFC burger and my boyfriend for a baker bean & vegan cheese jaffle. He also wanted a side of chips. The person working there informed us that their chips weren’t up to the normal standard so he could have them for free!
The food was really delicious and a good portion size for lunch. Their chips were amazing so I have no idea what their normal standard would be like! It’s nice to get proper chips in Australia.
All in all I would highly recommend and it’s sad that the previous review gives an inaccurate representation of the Snug in stars!

Proper Irish

I stopped in to The Snug on my way home from work on a Friday looking for a quiet beer and a feed. It was full and bustling but I still settled in to a cozy corner table. It’s small and dark inside which is actually a good thing as it feels like a real Irish pub. The owner and his staff are very warm and welcoming. The separate vegan menu (on the back of their regular menu) has as loads of options. Meals looked delicious but I couldn’t go past the bar snacks and sides. I decided on a serve of fried pickles and jalapeño mac and cheese. The fried pickles are served with smoky chipotle aioli that balances out the vinegary pickles beautifully. The mac was one of the more convincingly creamy versions I’ve tried with a bit of a tangy sharp bite to it that I don’t think came from the jalapeños. After polishing all that off, washed down with a pint of Furphy, I was practically falling asleep in my chair. Look forward to coming back with my partner, checking out the beer garden, mains, and deserts!

Pros: separate vegan menu, authentic Irish pub decore, friendly staff
