Nice beach

We had a nice 2-night stay. Lovely beach area, friendly service, and awesome to have a vegan restaurant attached to the hotel with breakfast included.

When booking, choose a room with a patio or balcony as our small room had no seating except for the bed.

Negative: Cash only, be prepared

Lovely restaurant

The seating area is beautiful, but the food was very disappointing and overpriced… I really don’t like giving bad reviews to a vegan place, but this was just really disappointing and anywhere else I would’ve given a 2 star rating 😔

Pros: Seating area, Staff

Cons: Food

Eco-Friendly and rejuvenating escape by the Ocean

The location is stunning. The room is spacious, with its own little garden opening directly onto the beach, and from inside you can hear the sound of the waves. The bathroom is French-style (toilet separate from shower and sink). Breakfast is delicious and unlimited (you can also have it whenever you like, no time limits). No plastic is used: glass bottles are refilled daily with drinking water, straws are made of steel, and napkins are reusable cotton.

The beach itself is clean, though just a short walk away you can see piles of plastic and small open-air dumps. The staff are incredibly kind and welcoming. The only drawback is the “cash only” policy, although we were able to pay for the room by card.

The restaurant prices are higher than in local eateries, but after 15 days traveling around Sri Lanka we realized that many places apply tourist prices, which are different from what locals pay. In Jaffna, for example, we paid as little as €2.40 for a meal for two, while in Nilaveli, by the sea, prices were the same as here—or even higher—about double what you’d pay at inland local restaurants. In Ella too, apart from small local spots, prices are definitely tourist-oriented. So it doesn’t surprise me.

I’m happy to pay a little more knowing it also supports a philosophy of sustainability in every aspect.

Pros: Location, Yummy unlimited breakfast, Room few steps from the beach

Cons: Cash only

Fine - but expensive for what you get

Mostly enjoyed our 2 night stay here, the location is great; right on the beach and close to other restaurants and shops. Staff are friendly. Food and room are just ok, we had to move room because our original room had the noisiest bed, the slightest movement made so much noise we couldn’t sleep. The second room was better but still the same issue just less so. The whole place could use a refresh of paint, it’s very grubby in parts. Mosquito net was really dirty, but without it we got covered in bites. As a vegan hotel the food should be top notch, but it was just ok… and coffee wasn’t good at all. Overall I think it’s a lot of money for what we got and wouldn’t return for that reason, wasn’t blown away and it was the most expensive hotel we stayed at in Sri Lanka.

Cute place but..

It would be actually nice to provide an adult size portion and not baby size, just look at my photo and you will understand. This place charges you more than $10 for a plate of rice and curry and a coconut for more than 3$ while paying its employees less than $100 in month, I will never support a business like that, I hope the reader will not support this kind of business as well

Pros: The place is right on the beach, cute decoration

Cons: Extremely expensive , Small portions, Fair taste nothing special

Delicious food

The bowl and the jackfruit burger were absolutely delicious. Also the coconut cake was good, a little too sweet for me

Paradise

We stayed for 5 nights and it was the highlight of our Sri Lanka trip.
The rooms are beautifully decorated and you wake up to the sound of waves only steps from the beach.
The breakfast can be ordered any time in the day and as much as you like, I became obsessed with the granola bowl.
All the food is homemade and fresh and the cocktails are unreal.
The friendliest staff, our room was clean daily and we got lots of tips of things to do.
We ended up not having many plans as it was hard to move from relaxing at this beachfront spot. You can swim with turtles just around the bay too (keeping your distance of course).
