I loved the ambiance and the food was very good too. We got soup and sandwiches which were the perfect amount for a quick lunch before site seeing in the center of town.

Good central breakfast spot - Edit
This is an organic restaurant with good vegan options. Located very close to the Grand Place and open at 9.00 on Saturday and Sunday so a handy spot for breakfast.
Read moreAt breakfast they have vegan waffles including one with melted chocolate. There is also a couple of raw cakes and a board which has a waffle and bread plus syrup, jams and peanut butter. The coffee is good (soya milk is available) and they have a range of juices and smoothies which can be made vegan (sub the milk for soya and sub the honey for syrup).
We found the service a bit mixed, sometimes good other times a bit disorganised, but it was a pleasant place to enjoy breakfast and plan the days sightseeing.
Pros: Vegan waffles, Open for breakfast at weekends, Central location
Cons: Not all veg*an. Not everything on menu available, Service was mixed, A bit pricey (you pay for the central location)

Cozy and chilled restaurant with an extensive vegan menu. A bit pricey, but the sandwiches have reasonably priced for quality and size - I had the Take A Smile one, which was great.

Convenient in tourist area - Edit
The Sister has a great location (a stone's throw from the Grand Place), great location if you are doing the tourist circuit in Brussels.
Read moreHowever, the atmosphere is rather cold and impersonal, the food I tried (soup of the day and a vegan plater to share) were okay but nothing special.
Almost all beers are organic and the selection is very broad but they are pricey compared to other places outside the center of the city.
Pros: location, organic beers, vegan options
Cons: A bit pricey, Atmosphere

Lovely stop on my way through Brussels. I swear I intended on a healthy bowl but then I saw VEGAN WAFFLES. When in Belgium, right! Very vegan friendly, suitable for everyone. Quite pricey but not too bad considering the area. Lovely music too!

VEGAN WAFFLES! - Edit
Here's my take on this lovely little place..
Read moreFood - had a focaccia sandwich for breakfast (artichoke, rocket, sun dried tomatoes) it was yummy, the bread was moist and it came with a small cup of flavourful carrot and coriander soup.
We had a soy latte which was very yummy and a Thai inspired tea infusion that was delicately flavoured.
We had waffles and whilst they were a little dry the chocolate sauce and deliciously creamy ice cream saw it through. Being in Brussels the smell of waffles permanently hang in the air so to find some I could actually eat was just, well, overwhelming. I'd love to know the ice cream they use because it was amazing.
Service - quick and friendly. Food came out quite fast too. Yay!!!
Hygiene - great amongst staff and in the restaurant. Toilet not so good. It needs proper hand wash and paper towels the current crusty soap and towel arrangement made me cringe.
Decor - lovely, perfectly curated and a spot I could simply sit in and watch the world go by for hours..
Other stuff - cards accepted. Vegan options clearly labelled and staff had great vegan awareness/knowledge too. Great location just back from the main square. We were actually on our way to the trusty Le Pain Quotidien and stopped here instead and I'm so glad we did!
Pros: Great food, Brilliant vegan selection , Vegan waffles with chocolate & ice cream!

A few out door seatings in a nice quite street.
Only reason for the missing star is that it is not 100% vegan.

Very nice location, super flexible staff and super tasty food! - Edit
I went there after some ethic shopping in "De Marollen" (go there when in Brussels to shop fair/organic/sustainable and cruelty free clothes!), and we wanted to go to a place near the "Grote Markt". And what a surprise! It is located in a very touristic environment but there are a looot of vegan options! I wanted (vegan) waffles but don't wanted something to sugary for lunch, so I asked (yes I'm a difficult eater) if they could serve the waffles without the agave syrup but with vegetables, and they did it! The waffles were served with tasty and fresh vegetables (and a vegan dressing) and well prepared soup too. And everything was delicious and comforting! My friend took a focaccia sandwich and was very happy of her lunch too! For ± 10 euros you have a tasty, fresh, organic, vegan lunch and you are located in the heart of Brussels!

Super cozy "safe haven" in the tourist area - Edit
I would not have expected a café as homely and nice as The Sister in the area of Bruxelles that is otherwise overrun by tourists and full of overpriced bad (non-veg) food stalls and chocolateries. All the happier was I, to enter this awesome café/bar/communal space. I instantly felt "at home" (as far as that is possible in a café). While they do serve meat, 90% of the menu are vegetarian (rough guess), with lots of super tasty vegan choices. The food is also very creative, the sandwiches and toasts aren't just guacamole and lettuce but actually combine really interesting flavours. I hope to try all of them eventually. Yum!

We found the listing on Happy Cow, before heading to Brussels, Belgium. It was conveniently located right in the center of the City, and the Tourist area on a little side street.
Read moreThe owner was very helpful and super friendly. We had two of the Vegan Focaccia offerings, with green and black tapenade. Delicious, the bread was heavenly. And they came with a small side soup, pumpkin. Very nice. The soy cappuccino s were great, really creamy. So all in all, it was a lovely experience, highly recommended.

Amazing, filling vegan options. - Edit
We were so happy to find this place is the very centre of Belgium just down a side street from Grand Place. The vegan options are great, as well as the staff being knowledgable and friendly. The focaccia sandwiches with a side soup were very filling that we had with dinner, the vegan antipasti was great too.

Mixed feelings - Edit
I feel bad to say anything bad about The Sister because the owner is very nice. However, the food was really only OK. Lentil soup didn't taste like anything and didn't have any noticeable lentils. The sandwich I had was somewhat bland and boring. What does make this place worth a visit though, is the chill atmosphere, the beverage variety, and the friendly staff.

Handy and tasty - Edit
I've eaten at The Sister two times and each time I was happy with my food and the atmosphere. Once, in winter, when it was lovely and cosy to be inside and once, in summer, when it was nice weather for footpath dining. Both times I had the daily veggie soup and, although a different soup (as it's a daily special) each time it was delicious. My friends and I also liked everything else we ate. I like that it is handy to Grand Place yet, if eating on the footpath, it isn't too hectic. Both times the staff were very helpful not just about the vegan choices but also with gluten-intolerance choices for my friend.

Cons: Outdoor dining is limited - be patient.
