And I was happy to see they had several options! There were pies but there was also a carrot cake cupcake. Took that one, tasted great. Staff is nice.

Lovely - Edit
Really happy with the food & drink options. There were quite a few few things to choose from, but options do rotate so may not always have the same stuff. Made an excellent vegan hot chocolate for me and latte for hubby.

Good Vegan Options - Edit
We arrived early for our Hobbiton tour and were pleasantly surprised by the selection of vegan options at The Shire's Rest Cafe! We tried both the vegan butter chicken and Mexican pies, and they were absolutely delicious. The coffee was good too.

Surprisingly good! - Edit
I was pleased to see a few vegan options in the fridge (2 pies, a wrap and a few cakes) and there was a plant based chocolate brownie option at the ice cream shed. The staff were very friendly and helpful when I asked them to check the ingredients to confirm that the hot chocolate powder and waffle cones were definitely vegan. Lovely!

Cons: Only one ice cream flavour , No cooked vegan meal option (that I could see!)

Came here expecting nothing but coffee and found plenty of vegan options, though mostly for snacks or small meals. Great coffee too!

Happy Surprise - Edit
You never expect much at such obviously touristy hotspots but I’m happy to say The Shire’s Rest Cafe had not only one, but several vegan options. Savoury and sweet desires were catered for. The butter chickn pie was WOW! And the raspberry cupcakes hit the spot with the oat milk lattes

Pleasantly Surprised! - Edit
I was surprised to find they had a range of sweet and savoury snacks here. There was a reasonable variety so you should be able to find something you like. Everything vegan was clearly labelled. I enjoyed the food and the prices were fair as well.

Yummy food - Edit
I was really happy with the food I ordered because it was delicious. I had a wrap and a cupcake. The cupcake was clearly labelled vegan and for the wrap I asked two different staff members and they both told me it was vegan. The prices were reasonable for such a touristic place.

Lovely surprise - Edit
We did not see this coming. After travelling a few weeks in the North it was a very nice surprise to see that there are so many vegan options here.
Read moreLike everything else here, they are mostly snacks (obviously, makes sense here), so not too healthy. But the ones we tried (sausage role & Mexican something) were quite nice.
Service is friendly. 😊
Due to Happy Cow regulations it is only possible to give 4* to extraordinary restaurants that are jot completely vegan. So I can give here only 3* to be fair to them. 😐
