Terrible

We booked a table for 6 people 3 of whom are vegan. The description of the restaurant here on Happy Cow and other people's reviews here lead me to believe this would be a good option for a mixed party including us vegans. Perhaps we were just unlucky but 5 of the 6 of us were very disappointed with our meals. The only person who enjoyed hers was a meat eater.

So firstly there were limited vegan options (as at Aug 25). The vegan mains were mushroom ravioli, a moving mountains burger with chips & onion rings or a salad. We all ordered the burger. Then the wait began. We waited an hour for our meals to arrive. They didn't seem particularly busy and nobody came to explain/apologize for the wait. We ordered drinks. The white wine & zero alcohol beers were all warm and merlot was 'nasty' and was sent back in place of a rioja.

When the mains finally arrived the chips were less warm than the beers and elements on the meat eaters plates were also cold. What a totally disappointing experience. Nobody wanted to risk ordering a dessert so l've no idea what the caramelised biscuit cheese cake (only vegan dessert) was like.

There was also a tapas menu which at the time of this review offered 3 tapas for £20. Unfortunately there are only 2 vegan options hummus and falafel. The children's menu has has vegan nuggets & chips with peas or beans.

We are local but haven't eaten here for many years. We certainly won't be back.

A great place to eat for everyone

This place had something for everyone! Vegan options were there but limited, however the food was reallt good, fairly priced with lovely vegan options and the best vegan cheesecake I have eaten in years!

Pros: The cheesecake was awesome, The price was fair, Allowed both wheelchairs and my dog

Cons: Mire starter options for vegans would be great

GREAT SPOT FOR VEGANS

Honestly surprised this doesn’t have more ratings!

Completely forgot to take pics of my pudding as was busy chatting! I had salt and pepper loaded fries with vegan chikn and it was absolutely divine, so flavourful! I then had the vegan biscoff cheesecake for dessert 😍

It had a few starters (hummus/vegan rolls) and a few mains (burger/pasta/salad/what I had!) from what I remember, only one dessert but was absolutely delicious so I didn’t mind!

Lovely pub, great location and good vegan selection

I was really pleased to find so many vegetarian and vegan options in this small coastal village. I had the plant based meatball Penang curry in a fiery aromatic coconut sauce with
cauliflower, green beans, mangetout & peppers with rice & mini naan bread, £16 and very tasty.

Pros: Options, Location
