When I first heard this place was vegan I was so happy! It was my family's go-to brunch spot. It was one of the few vegan spots in Ventura. Now the menu includes many non-vegan options. There's plenty of those already everywhere and this place is no different. My family and I will not be dining there anymore.

Changed to practically a completely meat based menu. Only 2 unimaginative vegan options are left just like every other restaurant when they offer "vegan". Truly embarrassing to be completely cruelty free and just start serving carcass out of the blue. Even a cocktail now contains egg white when it is quite simple to make a vegan cocktail. The old menu was far better than what remains. They said in a post they'd watch people leave because it was vegan. So their loyal plant based customer base doesnt matter at all. They could have added an option to make items with meat if they were struggling that bad, but keep some of their old menu. Super sad to see. Most likely won't be back unless some of the old menu items return their chicken and waffles, biscuits and gravy, and fish tacos were literally the best I have ever had. Better than anything in LA. Devastating that it is gone.

Yet another sell out restaurant excuse “due to rising of food costs and shortages of plant base alternatives” “now offering a balance menu” quotes coming from @insufferablevegan post on Instagram. OK having dead animals on your plate is considered being balanced?? so disturbing that in 2022 your excuse for rising food costs is to serve dead animals? Then why buy the food? Just close down your entire restaurant!!

Just went for brunch. Had the breakfast burrito and French toast. Burrito was good but a bit potato-centric. Still tasty.

Read moreThe bartender was not wearing a mask, nor was our initial female server. After she came up to our table, she was loudly talking to her coworkers about how she hasn’t been feeling well and then she went and sat down on the clock but still did not put a mask on.
The vibe was odd there and it feels kind of dark in there with no windows besides the front.
The food is good but pricey and they took forever to take our payment so we could leave.
Covid is serious and it’s sad to see people in the vegan community not complying with safety standards.

Incredible place on Main Street with current outdoor seating due to COVID. Overall very good experience! I’m so thankful for an all vegetarian vegan restaurant in Ventura county! Keep em comin!

The saloon by far exceeds the standards of vegan food. Everything on the menu is delicious. From their coffee menu, to brunch, to dinner, to perfectly curated drinks (many of which can be made virgin upon request).

Love the vibe here and everything we tried was great. I did think the breakfast croissant sandwich could have used some seasoning to taste up the Just Egg, but the potatoes that came with the sandwhich were on point. I love that this place is also a bar and open until midnight. We need more vegan places like that. I'll definitely come back here the next time I am in Ventura.

I’ve been eating here since it first opened and the food is good but since they went completely vegan they really jacked up the prices even on the vegan items that were already on the menu before the whole menu became vegan. Some of the items are pretty small portions too yet still expensive. I’m disappointed in how we have to pay more just because it’s all vegan now.

Waited for restaurant to open at 11am as the web and hours on window stated. Called several times and no answer. I saw an employee in the resuturant and him walk away as I approached the window.

Came for a friend’s birthday (but I’m the vegan one). It’s always great when you can amaze your non-vegan friends. We shared the cauliflower wings and let me tell you they were the best I’ve ever had! Also had the chicken sandwich which was also delicious! The French fries, people... THE FRENCH FRIES: Perfection!! Mac and Cheese was great. Friend had the Pulled Pork Sandwich and he was very pleasantly surprised! This place did not disappoint! Also, the staff was WONDERFUL. So nice and attentive. If you’re ever in Ventura, please stop by, totally worth it!

Rode our bikes through downtown Ventura and stopped for a vegan snack on their patio. We had a delicious Charcuterie board and glass of wine. Highly recommend.

I was so excited to find out there was a spot in Ventura that served a vegan version of my favorite breakfast.. french toast! It was some of the best french toast I've had, vegan or not. The chicken & waffles was also great.
Read moreWe went in for weekend brunch and it was quiet and we pretty much had the place to ourselves. Staff is very friendly too! I'll definitely be back, and can't wait to try their other dishes.

I don't think they have brunch anymore. The Saloon recently announced that they are now 100% vegan, but they did not announce that the prices were also about to skyrocket. What a shame.

The food at Saloon was superb. I was surprised that the vegan nachos were as good as they were! I rate that in itself a 5/5. The vegan fried chicken sandwich was good. If you’re not into cabbage, I would suggest getting a different item. Food choices are limited here. If you want to relax and have a drink, this is the place. Service was not the best. It took quite some time to get anyone’s attention. Overall, this is a great place for a night out. They also provide to-go, which is a good option during these times (and if outdoor seating isn’t currently available).

I had no idea this place was vegan. Great spot downtown Ventura. The food was some of your favorite comfort foods. I had the chicken and waffles. It was a big portion my wife loved the vegan nachos and my daughter had a chicken sandwich.
