Best produce - Edit
Root cellar is my go to for produce. The quality and prices rarely disappoint. Decent selection and they always bring in local items that are in season.
Read moreThe McKenzie location is a medium sized market with some produce out front and to the side under canopies. Inside is a small deli and attached café. I have not checked out to go food options as my usual visits are to grab produce. They have a small fridge and freezer section with hummus, olives, pickles, vegan sauces, tofu, sausages, cheese etc. Not as extensive of a selection as Lifestyles or Whole Foods however. They also have a bulk section and some pre packaged items near the fridges.
Parking lot is okay size at McKenzie. When its busy the lot can get quite full. During off hours I've never experienced issues finding parking.
The real highlight here is the produce.
Pros: Excellent produce quality, Pricing, Local

Disappointing - Edit
We stopped here on our way out of town, hoping to grab a snack for the road. The only vegan options they have are the produce and the same things you’d find at any Save On. Nothing ready to eat, no snacks, all the sandwiches were meat. And worst of all, they had fois gras in their deli. Gross.

Great local produce store! - Edit
I’ve been going to Root Cellar for a long time and now it’s been great to see them incorporate more vegan items especially in their Coffee Project cafe since their deli is truly lacking. I just spotted Beyond Meat burgers for a decent price and also chia puddings, soba noodles and more. Their quality and variety of produce is vast and keeps me coming back every week!

Great for cheap produce - Edit
I like to stop in here and buy their discount produce, which will keep fine for another week or more. They usually have cabbage, carrots, lettuce, potatoes, and lots of unusual fruits and veggies for $0.99-$2.99 and you can get enough produce for the week for $10.
Read moreThey also have lots of local produce options and some unusual imports that you will not find in other stores.
Pros: Unusual, exotic fruits, Cheap discount produce
Cons: Parking lot is very busy
