The Real German Bakery is Open and All Vegan - Edit

We found The Real German Bakery just outside the town of Pushkar. It is a stand alone building surrounded by farm land and a rose garden. After assuring us that everything they make is vegan we decided to join them for Chai on their rooftop. Krishna and his wife are seriously good people. We had a lovely time enjoying their quiet, peaceful rooftop with a great view. We had homemade toast, with homemade rose jam, cinnamon rolls and macaroons. They also offered vegetable sandwiches and full vegan dinner with cooking lessons! And the chai Krishna makes is unlike any other in India. He has his own recipe he brought from Nepal of over 40 ingredients with Ayurvedic properties. He sells this as a mix to take home as well. Throw in the Ayurvedic massage and this place is the real deal. Definitely a must for anyone visiting Pushkar, especially if you are a traveling vegan.

Pros: Friendly Honest Family Business, Great Conversation, Delicious Healthy Vegan Food

Great guy - Edit

The owner supplies lots of restaurants and hotels with his baked treats, including 'Out of the Blue' but is currently not baking, due to an operation but is waiting to resume after some rest. We met him and had a lovely no-milk special recipe chai and spent a while at his home chatting.

Vegan Treats at a Nice Guesthouse - Edit

The best part about my recent stay in Pushkar was discovering that my guest house sells vegan cake, croissants, cookies, and other treats made by Krishna, Pushkar's only vegan baker. Krishna's treats can be found at Pushkar Inn guesthouse as well as at his much smaller home shop at the address above. Also highly recommended are Krishna's marvelous, detoxifying Ayurvedic massages. Not for the meek, however: this is a no-clothes situation that might make more modest types uncomfortable.

Pros: Vegan, Affordable, Lots of variety

Great Vegan Bakery - Edit

I visited The Real German Bakery several times in Sept 2010, the owners Krishna and Sangetta were very friendly and welcoming. I would recommend a visit for the spicy chai-the best I had in India. For baked goods the chocolate brocquette and cinnamon roll were very good. I also got brown bread and rolls to take away which were good. I was very happy to find bread, cakes and chai which are vegan as it is rare in India. This isn't so much a cafe but you can sit on the rooftop which overlooks Pushkar's sacred lake, its a peaceful space where sometimes you will see monkeys playing in the trees.

Pros: Great chai, Vegan baked goods, Friendly place

Cons: Limited seating
