Tasty lunch!

I came here with a friend for lunch. The regular menu has a handful of vegan options including vegan pancakes and a homemade black bean burger. I got the black bean burger with fries, the fries and burger were really good. They also offer a vegan tasting menu but I didn’t feel like spending $35 for lunch even though the prefix menu looked really delicious. I just wish they would add more options to the regular menu!

Great place with solid vegan options!

The Rare Bit is a fairly new restaurant in Westchester, located on Cedar St. in Dobbs Ferry where there is a big restaurant scene there as well as Main St.

Exec. Chef Evan Kalogiannis has been working on adding great vegan options to the menu, and as the smallest vegan in Westchester, I had to check it out for myself (finally) 🌱.

Before I ordered the current vegan 3-course menu as I type this, I wanted to try the new vegan biscuits 🍞 They are substituted with nutritional yeast and miso green onion, topped with syrup and avocado 🥑 butter 🧈 These are a perfect savory biscuit as a great app for the table 👍🏼 As for the three course meal, the first one was a stuffed poblano pepper with summer veggies with a housemade adobo sauce. It has the perfect kick of spice 🌶 and with any stuffed pepper I love eating the inside more, and it has corn 🌽, kidney beans, and potatoes 🥔 It’s perfect for the summer since it’s a cold dish and the heat from the sauce makes it perfect 👌🏼 The second part is a quinoa cake with chickpeas and tomatoes. This was a hot dish, but the cakes were seasoned well and the addition of the kidney beans were nice! The third course was exciting, but before getting to that, one of my vegan friends that came got the vegan oat and banana 🍌 pancakes 🥞 (I had to take a photo). She said it was very good, especially the caramelized bananas. The pancake is more like a fritter texture, but the presentation is outstanding 🤤 Now for my main entree, it’s the spicy Chinese eggplant 🍆 made Schezuan style with peanuts 🥜 on top and forbidden rice 🍚 on the bottom. It was definitely my kind of spicy dish. The eggplant was cooked perfectly and the sauce is amazing 👏🏼 It was then finished with their vegan carrot 🥕 cake 🎂 made with an avocado buttercream with soy milk and shredded coconut 🥥 on top. Let me tell you, in all honesty... I WAS SHOOK!!! It was one of the best cakes I’ve had in a while. It was super moist and on point! 🤩

Westchester vegans, bring your other vegan friends, bring your non-vegan friends to The Rare Bit for an awesome brunch or dinner! You will not regret it 💕 I also added their drink menu as the cocktails are at a good price and they make their own hard seltzer (I got the orange 🍊 one cuz I wanted a mimosa and also didn’t want one 😂)

Pros: Great variety of vegan options, Affordable cocktails

Cons: Small space
