I have eaten at The Plot Express so I had a feeling this place would not disappoint and I was right. From the charred broccolini to my egg plants and salad. The flavors were definitely worth the wait. I think The Plot will become one of my go to spots after surfing once I am back in the ocean.

Everything was immaculate, from overall concept of the restaurant to presentation and taste. Prices were great as well. We got the fresh OJ (amazing), the house soda NineUp, truffle fries, crab salad, sausage and biscuits, the breakfast burrito, and the plot cake (omg). All made gluten free except the crab salad (has some breadcrumbs).

The Plot is one of those places that just feels special, because everything comes together just right. Another rarity is that the food is delicious and healthy, which is almost never done well.

I visited The Plot last night with two non-vegan friends. Everything on the menu sounded delicious, so it was hard to decide. I landed on the chicken and waffles and a decaf iced latte. The latte was delicious, even sans sugar (how I normally drink it). The waffle was amazing - perfectly sweet and slightly spiced, I think. It was also quite dense and a bit chewy. I loved it. The chicken was disappointing. It came in stick form and while the fried outer coating was good, if needing a bit more spice, the interior seemed to be straight up tofu. I abhor plain, non-firm tofu (like that used in some soups) so, needless to say, the chicken was not my favorite. I noticed that in photos of the chicken and waffles, from other users on this site, the pieces look more like chicken, with breast and wing shapes. Maybe they ran out of TVP/seitan to make more authentic veggie chicken?

Wow. What a special place this is. Awesome vibes the second you walk in the door. The energy of the staff really fills this place and you can tell how much everyone appreciates the innovative plant based menu. The outdoor seating area is just such a great way to enjoy the amazing food on offer. Enjoyed sausage and biscuits, the breakfast sandwich, the crab and cucumber salad. Also, if you like hot sauce, I’d recommend you ask for some. There were two offerings, the spicy red hot sauce made from peppers grown on site! Also, try the fries. 😂

The food was delicious and it's grown right there in the restaurant. I had the shepherds pie which is very good lol a little bit too salty. The Thai Larb was excellent as was the tomato soup and the KFC roll. The vanilla, angel food, tape cake with fruit was delicious. The chocolate cake was OK although a bit heavy.

Our waitress was so sweet and I have never heard anyone be so good at elaborate the menu (any menu anywhere). Her way of describing specials made me want to order it all. Our group had two kids who lived the food as much as we did and when we order deserts and espresso at the end, she brought out little tiny cacao drinks served in espresso coffee cups for kids too-you can imagine how good, important and acknowledged kids felt - so sweet! Highly recommend, the food was incredibly delicious.

Have not been living in the area that long (under a year), but consider this the best vegan place I have found in the Carlsbad/Oceanside/Vista/San Marcos area. Great food, excellent staff, and both indoor and outdoor dining options. We've brought multiple omnivores here and they have enjoyed it as well.

Read moreThere’s a ‘mad scientist’ who takes care of the gardens and puts a lot of love and energy into the products. You absolutely have to go to Plot. Everything is amazing, the cocktails AND wine are incredible and the staff and deco of the restaurant are lovely and beautiful. I can’t say enough positives about it.

Best Place for a Date - Edit
The Plot is a gorgeous sit down restaurant that is great for a date. The interior is designed really well and they have an outdoor seating area as well. The food is unique and all vegan -- which is always a plus! Every time I have gone, the staff have been really friendly and seem to enjoy their job. The Plot uses local ingredients and cares a lot about being zero-waste. Go ahead and make a reservation, you won't regret it!
