Perfect Find - Edit

The Planet Cafe is in a great location just outside of Taunton town centre that’s really easy to get to thanks to parking at the Orchid centre. The range of food is fab, the staff are lovely and the food is fresh, what more could you ask for? They do great coffee too!

Pros: Great quality and choice of food, Friendly staff, Easy to find

Fantastic vegan cafe - Edit

I've eaten here a few times now and will definitely keep returning for more! The food is always freshly cooked and delicious, and reasonably priced too. The cafe is family friendly (I am normally visiting with my 8 and 6 year old) and very welcoming to all. At peak times it gets busy, which is testament to the quality of the food they serve, but you never usually have to wait more than a few minutes for a table if at all. You can reserve a table by calling to book in advance if you like.

The menu is small but with a good variation of dishes, including lighter bites such as a sausage roll or pasty if you don't want a full meal.

The cakes are so delicious, and there is a good range of teas, coffees and cold drinks too.

I cannot recommend this place enough!

Pros: Excellent quality food, Friendly service and children made to feel welcome, Reasonably priced

Lovely little cafe - Edit

Whenever I am out shopping in Taunton I go here for lunch or a coffee and cafe. The selection is small but impeccably made and everything is vegan, which is still fairly rare for a cafe around Somerset. The price is also very reasonable, the staff are friendly, service is usually very quick and, as an added perk, they have a book swapping box where you can take your old books and take ones you have not read in return. All the hot drinks can be made with your choice of dairy-free milk, including soya and oat.

I would definitely recommend the chai latte made with oat milk.

Pros: Good value, Quick service, Nice staff

Cons: Relatively small selection

No need to add to what others are saying, just want to be another one saying how great this gem of a cafe is. Only advice is get there early as when we left on a Thursday lunchtime it was filling up!

Pros: Good interesting choice of salads. Very reasonably

Great food and friendly staff at this Taunton haven - Edit

I visited Taunton for the day and this appeared to be the only fully vegan place. I had the nut burger and a load of salad (very reasonably priced) plus vegan cheese. And for dessert had a big slice of delicious and moist bakewell cake. My godmother and her sister also loved it (and they are by no means vegan). Definitely recommend going here. The staff were lovely and friendly.

Pros: Very friendly staff, Lots of veg/salad with the burger, Delicious moist cake

Cons: Burgers could be a bit bigger

Taunton doesn't know how lucky it is! - Edit

The Planet cafe is a one woman project by all accounts and full credit to her for getting it off the ground and going for almost a year now. It's not easy running a vegan cafe in the most wealthy and hip of places so doing so in a town where only multinational supermarkets and charity shops thrive has to be a challenge. Anyway get there early as the menu is liable to "run out" towards the end of the day. The menu changes often which is good. But have a Not Sausage Roll, one of the few to rival those of The Old Post Office Bakery that I've ever had. Don't expect loads of choices of tea or coffee this is a small enterprise but do enjoy the homemade cheese sauce, mayonnaise and cakes (maybe not all at the same time!) which other outlets often just buy in. Taunton is surrounded by beautiful country side plagued by fox hunting, so when you've had enough of laying false scents and blowing bugles to distract the hounds I'd recommend the many charity shops of Bridge St and North St interrupted by lunch at the Planet cafe.
I'll be back there with or without the Sabs!

Friendly service and good food in Taunton - Edit

The cafe is a relaxing place to sit and browse their vegan magazines or a book. They also had a small art/photo exhibition when we visited. The staff are really friendly, service was quick and the coffee and food is good. We had a 'Not a sausage roll' and it was very tasty. The burgers and cakes looked lush too. A lovely haven in an area otherwise void of vegan options!

Pros: Friendly staff, Quick service, Nice, relaxing atmosphere
