CLOSED: The Perch

Wife & I found this place after walking from West Hastings to East Hastings St. My tofu scramble was very good, not too oily at all. My wife said her dish was scrumpshish. Great art on display & for sale. Owner & staff very friendly. Would rate this 4.5 stars.

We ate here for breakfast yesterday and came away highly unimpressed. First off, the floors were filthy. Now I understand that this place is meant to be more hipster, but that doesn't constitute having a dirty restaurant. As far as the food, it was pretty mediocre. I had the vegan tofu scramble and thought it was bland and that they overused Daiya cheese (in every vegan item). The tofu scramble consisted of tofu, spinach, potatoes, and onions covered with a thick layer of Daiya cheese - I really thought it was missing a lot of flavor and that it was too oily. My bf's meal was actually terrible and they even forgot a few of the ingredients. If I lived here I probably would never come back again. (I give The Perch a 2 and my bf gives it a 1)

Nice casual place to bring non-vegan friends and family for brunch or dinner. I had tofu nuggets with maple sauce which were good, and they also have avocado or artichoke vegan eggs benny's. I also had a really good eggplant cannelloni with tofu ricotta when I went there before too.
