Vegan menu is back, a whole page's worth - Edit
The classic historic Reading restaurant that you can see on travel shows has unveiled a full page of Italian-leaning vegan entrees and appetizers, and they seem very excited about it. What a delight to go to a standard restaurant, with drinks and a fun atmosphere, and have enough options to be rendered indecisive.
Read moreWe all split the cheese fries, something I have not had in years and was craving, very light and non-greasy. The peanut pasta fits right in with their theme and is a savory dish loaded with veggies, including a ton of mushrooms. Our family member who is not vegan was up for trying the chicken parm. We were stuffed even though all four of us took food home. These dishes are designed to appeal to omnivores with a hearty appetite. Good beer list and creative cocktails too.
Owner and server were sincerely interested to see that we enjoyed our food. GF options are available. The vegan meat (meatballs, burgers, and chicken) used is from Impossible. If it is not your thing, you can skip it in some of the dishes. It is something I eat as a treat. At this time there are no vegan desserts, but they are considering it. Even if they don't make them in house, plenty of local bakeries would likely love to get their products on the menu here. Please stop in for a visit to keep these choices going and growing.

Super Vegan Friendly - Edit
There is a large parking lot behind the front entrance, you have to go around the block to get to it but it worth it. It leads you through the back entrance where there’s a quaint fountain feature and old school gas light looking lanterns to guide you in. It’s like stepping back in time into the sweetest Italian looking restaurant. The owner came to the table to chat and make sure everything was going well. I came to find out this restaurant has been family own for 100 years! A true neighborhood gem. The staff were super friendly and there is a giant Vegan menu with so many choices. I got the chicken parmigiana. It came with a side salad with a variety of vegan dressings to choose from. It was so good! I couldn’t choose so I also got the Thai chicken peanut noodles to go. It was amazing and I should’ve got that for dinner first it was so tasty. The cocktails were also made with love and were delicious. The coolest part above all are the peanuts, they’re available on each table and can be de-shelled and tossed on the floor!! It’s a tradition not to miss out on

Delicious food in a friendly, cozy atmosphere - Edit
I recently had the South African inspired peanut butter sauce pasta without meat to make it vegan. They serve you a huge portion and I have to admit it was so delicious I ate it all. The food is very fresh and the staff and owner are very friendly and concerned about your satisfaction with the food. I love the atmosphere here at the Peanut Bar. It is a pub- like, cozy and friendly place where you can throw peanut shells on the floor. This is a great place to eat before going to a show or sporting event at one of the nearby theaters or venues. The Peanut Bar also has a well lit parking lot in the back of the restaurant.

I love Peanuts! - Edit
I went here prior to going vegan and enjoyed my food and the experience. Checking out their menu again, after going vegan, and discovering that they have a vegan cheeseburger is really awesome!
