Good food, Rude staff - Edit

The food was good, a little expensive at around £9 per main meal. But the staff are very abrupt and unhelpful.

Pros: All vegan food, Good choice

Amazing Vegan Friendly Find..... - Edit

What a find! 100% Vegan friendly menu, with great choice!
Visited on a bit of a whim on Friday evening, found the place to be busy (busier than expected) with a good mixed crowd and friendly vibe. Ordered food (Chicken Sandwich and Steak and Onion Sandwich) and was advised there would be a wait...... Food arrived after 15 minutes and was extremely tasty!! First time having Seitan and was really happy with the texture and flavour, Chicken was well flavoured and i think an Omni would struggle to tell the difference. Overall a pleasant meal, and def a place worth visiting. 😁

Pros: Good menu, Tasty Food and 100% VEGAN

Cons: Staff not too knowledgable on the menu (i asked wh

Food is ok - Edit

The food is ok at best, but for the most part it’s quite bland.
The place doesn’t feel welcoming, clean, or comfortable. I’ve been a few times, but I don’t think I’m going to go back.
Service isn’t great either.

Great variety of options - Edit

I loved being in an actual traditional style pub (rather than a bar or music venue) and the whole food menu being vegan. You do need to check with drinks, it isn't obvious which drinks are and aren't vegan.

Initially I'd selected a table in the room to the right of the main door, opposite the public bar. However, I couldn't see which drinks were available from there so we moved through to the bar. It also wasn't obvious that we had to order at the bar. We'd sat for a few minutes and I thought I should ask when nobody had spoken to us.

I wasn't sure exactly what my mac and cheese burger would be like and it was actually a patty made from mac and cheese. It was amazing! I really enjoyed my meal, and my non-vegan friend got the Ribwich, which was a thick slab of seitan with BBQ flavour and I was pleased she liked her meal, too.

Around 4pm I went to order the pumpkin cheesecake and almost didn't get it as was told the kitchen has closed until 5pm, but it was sent up ok. They have a record player playing tunes and a sideboard of board games, I think I'd be there often if I lived in Nottingham.

Pros: Reasonable prices, Loads of different options, Delicious food

Cons: Kitchen shutting between lunch and dinner, Not obvious which drinks are vegan, Not obvious you order at the bar

Absolutely disgusted with service and waiting time!! - Edit

Do not go unless you want to wait 1hr and 20mins for your food. Absolute joke. They have no value for customers time and how they are feeling. Me and my partner travelled to Nottingham to specifically visit this place as we were in the Nottinghamshire area for work purposes. We did our research and the menu looked good as we are vegan we were looking forward to it but we were severely let down because our food simply did not show up!!!!

Firstly when I placed my order, I asked the member of staff if I can pay at the end just in case we wish to order dessert - she said this would be fine but asked for my payment card to be kept behind the bar. I was offended by this because it felt like she didn’t trust that I would pay at the end. But I thought to myself, it’s alright, maybe they do this for everyone, so I let that slip by.

We asked and kept being told it’ll arrive soon but it simply never did. We waited up to 1hr 20mins and enough was enough. I demanded my debit card back and we left. They do not deserve my money. That was just pathetic. I’m normally quite nice and never write bad reviews but that is simply embarrassing. It has ruined my day. I’m absolutely fuming.

I am simply disgusted. I would give ZERO stars if I could but the lowest this app allows is 2 stars.

Amazing food - Edit

Ok, so its only my second vegan outing so comparisons are limited but Its totally amazing to have such an appetising vegan meal (never mind just veggie).

The sausage was battered to perfection and the chips were lovely and crispy.

My friend had filet of fish which was a superb choice, I am itching to go back - well done - great staff as well and eclectic mix of diners.

Nice food and friendly staff. Had fish n chips which was very good and tried one of the battered sausage with good old chip shop curry which was even better and will be my choice as a main on my next visit. Didn't have a sweet because I was full from the main course. Great place and definetly worth a visit.

Pros: Nice pub atmosphere, quick service and friendly st

Had some good Vegan food since turning vegan 8 weeks ago but this is by far the best. Had the Wellington Sunday lunch and the pie would fool any meat eater. Brilliant Sunday lunch in its own right and great old pub 👍🏼

Tasty pub grub - Edit

It's lovely to have somewhere that everything on the menu is vegan.
The odd thing is when we visited we were told the kitchen would be closing at 8pm. (This was on a Friday evening) just seemed a little early to stop serving food.
The place itself really could do with a bit of a tidy up.

Pros: Everything food wise is vegan

Cons: not sure all drinks are vegan, so be careful

Great Sunday roast! - Edit

Went today, only Sunday roasts on the menu but a choice of 3 different options. I had the Wellington which was lovely, served with roast potatoes, mustard mash, stuffing, loads of veg and gravy. Other options were a tart and vegan sausages. Huge portions but really delicious!

Pros: All vegan options! , Reasonably priced - £8.50 for a massive roast dinn

absolutely delicious - Edit

Called in here twice at the wind when was in Nottingham. First trip on Friday night was the bar menu, our group had several dishes and all were big portions, the vegan fish and chips and lasagnes were delicious. Also went back for Sunday lunch and was again delicious with very generous size portions. There were 4 options to choose from to go with the traditional Sunday trimmings. Only downside was the portions filled me up too much so didn't get chance to taste one of the deserts!.

Pros: good size portions, relatively cheap, taste

Simply delicious - Edit

Visited The Peacock with an omni friend and we had the Sunday roast Wellington. It was incredible, a huge plate of roast tats, stuffing, puréed swede, glazed veggies, gravy and the crowning glory the Wellington which was rich and meaty - made with soy apparently. (The only thing I'd change is less pastry more filling and gravy). My friend said it was unctuous and loved it so top marks there! The atmosphere is chilled and homely so perfect for a late Sunday afternoon. Will definitely visit again when next in Nottingham.

Pros: Delicious homely food, Lovely atmosphere, decor and music, All vegan

Cons: none

One of the best restaurants I've eaten in! - Edit

Went here with my mum and grandma (all three of us are vegan) and we were so so happy with the food. The "fish" from the "fish and chips" honestly tasted just like fish and was absolutely divine - flavouring of all the meals we had was spot on. Everything is fairly priced and the food is honestly beautiful. Would highly recommend going! We are definitely going here again!

Excellent food and service. - Edit

The food was very good and reasonably priced. The bar staff were very friendly and helpful. The only problem was deciding which one dish to pick as all sounded delicious. The pea pie with mash and veg was very good. I just hope I get the chance to try another before returning home.

Pros: Choice , Service , Price

Great food menu - Edit

All-vegan menu. Hard to choose, but I had a tasty and satisfying savoury pie meal: asparagus, minted pea and caramelized onion pie with mustard mashed potatoes, roasted vegetables and gravy, for £7.50. Also on the menu were delicious-sounding sandwiches, such as warm spicy tofu & mushroom; warm chicken, stuffing & mayo; and chilli & cheese melt. Also, all-day breakfast; sharing platter with samosas, pakoras, bruschetta, bowl of chilli, chips; and two burgers (seitan and stuffed Portobello). Mains include fish & chips with mushy peas, bean stew and lasagne. There’s a Sunday lunch, and the Christmastime special was Tofurky with mash, roast veg, stuffing and gravy for £6.95.
Unfortunately, the draught beers are not vegan (and not craft or microbrews). There was only one bottled beer that was vegan, Samuel Smith’s pale ale. (Dec. 2016) I hope the vegan beer offerings will expand.

Pros: all-vegan menu, it's a vegan pub!

Cons: needs more vegan beer

Rude and unfriendly staff - Edit

We'd heard people rave about the food here and were excited to try it. We arrived around 2pm on a Sunday and there were plenty of tables free. There were two members of staff serving people at other tables, but they didn't even say hello to us. We tried to get their attention several times when they came out, but they just ignored us. So after waiting about 15 minutes, we gave up and went and ate somewhere else.

Pros: Other customers were friendly

Cons: Rude staff, Very dingy, Smelled damp

Disappointed with wait for okay food - Edit

We went there yesterday around 5.30pm. We spent about £27 for 3 of us for 3 mains & 2 light bites which we shared as starters and one soft drink. The décor and atmosphere were nice. The menu looked interesting and loved it was all vegan. We were told there was a half-hour wait for food....we waited for about an hour and 20 minutes!! We were not alone...when the food came it was staggered with each dish arriving at separate times so we could eat together. I ask for mayo but never got any. My lasagne was nice but a bit dry and garlic bread was tasty but cold. My son had fish and chips - surprised it was tofu wrapped in seaweed - menu needs explanation of the dishes, and the tartare sauce was not nice. It was a shame as we had come from Norwich to try it as we were in Notts for the evening. Food was nice but service and wait ruined it. There was no offer of free drink or discount. The music was good but then it was turned up so loud and it was so fast that made eating stressfull and conversation difficult. Disappointing and probably won't return any time soon. I'd really like to rave about it as great idea vegan pub but they have some lessons as on Saturday it was not an acceptable way to treat customers. I'd like them to be successful and that is why I'm being honest in my review

Pros: all vegan

Cons: reasonably priced

Impressed! - Edit

Having been before the refurb, although the food was good, the place was in dire need of redecoration. I saw on social media they were closing for the refurb and would be opening with a fully vegan food menu. Fantastic news!

I revisited for lunch once they'd reopened. The pub now has a lovely fresh feel. Still two separate lounges and a little outdoor seating area upstairs for those sunnier days. I really liked the options on the menu, take note they only serve a roast dinner on Sunday's and not the full menu. Although there are several roast dinner options. I opted for the chickn, stuffing and mayo sandwich with chips. Very happy with the price, quality and the portion was pretty big! Service was also quick. Good selection of vegan drinks, both soft and alcoholic, on offer too. No hesitation at all in returning again.

Pros: All vegan food menu, Great value for money, Good selection
