so many vegan/gf options!!!!! - Edit
would give 5 stars if I could since the food and staff is 100%. They’re pretty much a 1/2 vegan restaurant with the best Buffalo cauliflower wings and please try the BVE burger! They always have vegan specials as well as fun vegan/gluten free desserts to try😄I’ve been too many times it’s pretty pricy but so good!!!

We love The Owl House! - Edit
I love coming here so much. Their BVE burger is one of my favourites, I can't get enough of their caesar salad, and their winter squash dish in 2021-2022 is one of the best things I have EVER eaten. Period. I dream of that dish 🥺
Read moreAlmost all vegetarian dishes can be made vegan. Their soups and desserts are usually vegan, and the staff is super knowledgeable.
Update Feb. 2023: The head chef (Leanne) is seriously one of the best vegan chefs I've ever encountered. The level of finesse, detail, complexity, and balance of her food is incredible. Best of the best.

Buffalo Cauliflower - Edit
Loved the Buffalo cauliflower. It was not overly fried and the vegan blue cheese was delicious. It was so good. Most of the menu can be switched to vegan which is a plus. The croutons for the salad were a bit too hard and hurt my gums. But the chips my boyfriend had went well with the salad.

Charming place with a bunch of vegan offerings - Edit
This is a relaxed-but-elegant, charming, waiter-served place with a type of early American decor (along with children's artwork on the walls)--a contrast to many of the bar-type eateries nearby that are listed on Happy Cow. They have a bunch of clearly listed vegan dishes. We had a tofu dish, cauliflower "wings," a vegan soup, and a vegan pie slice--all quite good and filling.

Always Delicious! - Edit
I’ve been coming to the Owl House since they opened and their menu was a big help in my transition to veganism. I look forward to the changing seasonal menu, though I definitely appreciate my standard favorites like the Saladboy and the house smoked tofu! This is the place I meet nonvegan friends when visiting the area. So good!

Many vegan options; amazing brunch! - Edit
This is a great spot for vegan brunch (my favorite) and for cauliflower wings, especially if you like them to pack a little heat punch with all of the flavor! Great tofu scramble, breakfast potatoes, and tempeh bacon. The first time I was there I had a huge vegan waffle topped with fresh fruit and never forgot how amazing it was. Their menu has changed slightly in the offerings over the last couple of years (so sad that they don't have vegan mozzarella sticks on the menu anymore!) But I was able to get an order of them when they did a special "throwback menu" in 2018- hopefully they'll consider doing that again! This is also a nice spot to go for an alcoholic drink and dessert, too.

Elegant food prepared for any diet! - Edit
This restaurant is a Rochester staple and it catered to vegans, vegetarians, and gluten free diets long before anyone else. There’s more than enough choice and substitution options on the menu to actually have choices in every category and they have options for meat eaters, too. The food is elegant and the cocktail menu is innovative and tasty. The restaurant is located in an old house and they have tables upstairs, downstairs, and on the back patio. Probably my favorite in this city!

Great Food - Edit
I’ve come back to Owl House so many times. My favorite on their menu is the chickpea burger with strawberry sriracha jam. They always have a vegan soup of the day which is always delicious. Sometimes they will have a vegan dessert. Their menu is always changing which offers new vegan food choices!

Great Vegan Options - Edit
I have been here twice, both times with meat eaters. All of us loved the food here. I got the classic chickpea patty the first time and it was really good. I don't think it stayed together very well, but not any worse than most bean burgers. The second time I got the Oleks Buffalo Stance with tempeh and it was incredible. I like that their bread it made locally, but I do wish they offered whole wheat bread options. The fries are also very good. 3 stars out of 4

Always wonderful - Edit
I've been to the owl house many times over the years, and it is consistently great. The staff is knowledgeable, there's always plenty of vegan options (including rotating desserts and soups!), and even the cocktails and mixed drinks have vegan versions. It can be hard to get a table for brunch sometimes, but their tofu and waffles is something no one should pass up!

delicious - Edit
Their menu changes once in a while, so some items may not be available for more than a few weeks. Their food is made with local ingredients, which is cool if you're into supporting local businesses.
Read moreI've had the chickpea burger a few times. It's always delicious and comes with a strawberry srirracha jam that's TDF.
Their buffalo cauliwings are SO GOOD and a large portion for their price. The vegan bleu cheese is delicious.
Once, they had crabless cakes that were also quite tasty. haven't seen them in a while.
I always try a "unique" cocktail and I've never been disappointed. They pair odd flavors that always taste delicious.
If you're going on a weekend night or for brunch, I suggest making a reservation. They can get quite busy. Also, there's no parking lot so you better know how to parallel park.
Pros: Very tasty vegan options , Quick service
Cons: Street parking , Can be pricey

A nice dinner - Edit
Very unique find in the outskirts of Rochester.
Read moreCame here when I saw a review of their buffalo cauliflower. I have been wanting to make my own buffalo cauliflower for some time, but figured my first tasting should be by a professional, and not my amateur hands.
Enters huge plate of cauliflower smothered and fried with buffalo sauce, and served with cold broccoli slaw. A delicious combo, huge portion (i'd say about 3/4 a head of cauliflower here), and amazingly prepared. I have taken note and look forward to trying myself.
The flavors were so powerful I was actually a little disappointed by my chickpea burger with sriracha jam. I couldn't taste the intricacy of the flavor combination, but i still appreciated the fried onion crisps, and melted cheese.
All in all, a wonderful meal. Cocktail menu looked great, as well as the non-vegetarian food. Make a reservation for dinner though, it gets crowded FAST.
Pros: Great food
Cons: Crowded place in the evenings

Reliably Great - Edit
Some really good food here, especially the chickpea burgers and crab cakes. A little greasy, but that's comfort food for you!
Read moreA great place to go with folks who are not vegan. They can get whatever they want and it doesn't feel like we are forcing something on them. On the other hand, they usually end up getting the vegan entrees anyway.
Good selection of beers and cocktails if you like, too.

Pros: Good food, Omnivore friends won't object , Friendly atomosphere
Cons: A little on the heavy side

I've been to The Owl House a couple of times and have loved my meal at every visit. On my most recent visit, I ordered the vegan BLT which comes with vegan garlic mayo, tempeh bacon, and arugula on grilled sourdough bread. It was a huge sandwich but absolutely delicious!

Cons: Not entirely vegan, Can be busy on Friday and Saturday night

Always delicious - Edit
I've been here quite a few times, and the food is always amazing. My favorite item is the chickpea burger with vegan mayo. They make their own ketchup and it's fantastic. It's not an all-vegan place, but there are tons of delicious vegan options, and the staff is great about accommodating to your needs. Most if not all of their desserts as far as I know are vegan, but they'll tell you what is/isn't. Sitting out on the patio is a must!

Asian BBQ Tofu = YUM - Edit
This place has a good number of vegan or veganizeable options. We shared Buffalo Cauliflower with vegan aioli which was well-made (I just don't like buffalo sauce in general) & I had Asian BBQ Tofu with corn cake for my entree which was delicious - a great mix of flavors & nice presentation (in medium size portion).
Read moreJudging from the description & other reviews here, I assume they change the menu frequently as I didn't see most of the items mentioned (on Nov 28, 2014).
Wait staff was nice & knowledgeable about vegan options.

Cons: Expensive
