Vegan offerings tasty but limited

Given their website and reviews we were expecting a lot of choice here but there was just one vegan lunch option (spiced curry pasty) and the only other vegan option wasn’t available that day (chickpea and spinach pie) so fine if you like pastry! Shame that none of the sandwiches could have been made vegan as they looked delicious as they were being brought out to other tables. We did enjoy the pasty and it came with a nice salad and some crisps. Only one cake option (chocolate) which was nice but one slice was huge and the other looked like it had already been half eaten before being thrown onto the plate. There was a Biscoff slice and rocky road which were both vegan too but we didn’t try those. Really wished we’d gone to Cobblestone’s over the road instead, because when we walked past afterwards, their menu looked a lot more appealing with many more vegan options including scones.

Pros: Although limited, vegan options were tasty, Plenty of seating inside and out, Ideally situated for visiting Dunster Castle

Cons: Limited lunch options and both pastry based, On the pricy side for what it is (tourist area), Serves animals and their secretions

Lovely food

Also known as Tessa’s Tearoom - the food was great here. Plenty of options for vegans all marked with (V).

We had the curried pasty with a salad that was great in itself!

Also had oat milk hot chocolate.

Pros: Plenty of options and well labelled, Reasonable prices , Quick service

Cons: None

Lovely cafe with vegan lunch and cakes

A lovely venue with beautiful surroundings and outdoor seating. They had a vegan curry, two vegan hot pies and a vegan pasty, plus at least three vegan cake options. They also did oat, soy and almond milk. Very quick and pleasant service!

Pros: Several cake and lunch options , Beautiful village surroundings , Selection of dairy free milks

Superb find

An interesting cafe with lots of vegan options. Feels like you are in a cross between an antique dealer and a charity shop. Lots of stuff for sale not only in the cafe but in the corridor/tunnel at the side, which you can peruse while waiting for the toilet which is also here.

The were at least six vegan dishes to choose from, between us we had a keralayan cauliflower and pepper curry, a three bean chilli and a spicy chickpea and spinach pie. The curry came with rice and poppadoms, the others with a large mixed salad. They were all excellent.

Other options included a different curry, a roast vegetable pie and a lentil soup.

Followed by a choice of vegan cake... Orange drizzle, raspberry and lemon, shortbread or flapjack.

Superb selection of tea including tea pigs.

Four lunches with drinks followed by four pieces of cake and tea came to about £65, which seems reasonable.

Pros: Lots of vegan options including cake, Vegan cake, Friendly, helpful, efficient staff and vegan cake

Great lunch!

We ordered the creamy cauliflower curry and the bean chilli. Both were wonderful and under a tenner each. No pud or cake on the menu unfortunately although I’m sure if more people ask they will provide it.

Pros: 3 vegan options

Cons: No pud
