Good food, good selection at a good price. - Edit
Me and my parents all got vegan halloumi gyros,
Read moreAlthough rather nice the halloumi itself was very soft and not quite as squeaky or cheesy as I'd like (thus is vegan cheese) but the rest of the gyro and its accutramal, such as the skin on chips were quite good.
I recommend eating here, we didn't have a massive selection of food but the food we had was rather nice.
Pros: Decent food, portions and atmosphere, Large seperate veggie/vegan menu, Alright wait times (we took away over eating in)
Cons: Not so nice vegan "Halloumi", Nothing else really

Huge vegan menu and big portions - Edit
They had a dedicated vegan menu with lots of tapas choices from both Spanish and Greek cuisines. There was also a dedicated vegan lunch specials menu featuring at least four different types of gyros (available as plate or wrap).
Read moreI had a vegan halloumi and chorizo gyros wrap. It came on a huge wooden board with potato wedges, salad and garlic mayo - a huge portion. The halloumi wasn't great and the whole thing was a bit too sweet and greasy, but it was very filling.
Nice staff and a good atmosphere for a weekday lunchtime.
Pros: Huge menu , Big portions
Cons: Food was a bit too greasy and sweet

Busy Friday evening in summer, busy outside but room indoors. We were here to watch the British cycling. Great food, really enjoyed it.

Alright food but massively overpriced - Edit
They have a separate vegan menu and they specify what’s vegetarian from the main menu. Plenty of options but food isn’t great quality and definitely isn’t fresh, which you’d expect for the price. We paid £54 for two people with no drinks or desserts - we could’ve done with two less tapas though. Staff was really lovely and take allergies seriously. Place is very loud and a bit hectic as lots of people go for drinks so depends what kind of environment you’re looking for.

Traditional tapas bar feel - Edit
Traditional spanish tapas bar feel. Had that rustic vibe. Plenty of seating both upstairs & downstairs, so no reservation needed.
Read moreThey have a designated vegan menu, which i love! I ordered the following: chorizo tapas, lima beans, feta & aubergine, beetroot salad. The lima beans & beetroot were my favourites from what i’ve tried so far. The chorizo was a little too crispy for my liking, but that is just personal preference. I recommend ordering one portion of the pitta breads, which will be enough for 2 people & compliments the tapas. Sadly i felt like the tapas were lacking in flavour, but not bad if you were eating with omni friends/family.
A little expensive, especially if you’re buying 4 different tapas to share between 2 people.
Pros: Designated vegan menu, Rustic vibe
Cons: Expensive

The Tapas bar was brilliant, made brilliant by our exceptional waiter called Spencer. Fabulous customer service and he had an award winning smile, everything about Spencer was amazing, especially his hair! Good food as well.

Wish I could give it 5 stars! - Edit
Oh my goodness, I wish I lived closer so I could visit again tomorrow.
Read moreThey have a separate vegan menu which has many of their staples made vegan. They have a range of tapas options, vegan gyros, platters and larger plates.
We had the Halloumi and chorizo gyros (granted the Halloumi wasn’t to our taste, but we ate the rest). It came with chips, aioli, a little salad too.
I had the hummus and pitta which was lovely - really creamy and full of flavour. I had the patatas aioli which was incredible and my favourite was the borakakia (aubergine wrapped feta topped with marinara sauce). This is a dish I’ve had in Greece many times prior to being vegan, and I never thought I’d get anything close. Genuinely just closed my eyes and enjoyed it!
Staff were attentative, friendly, and clued up about vegan offerings. Genuinely couldn’t fault the place! Ambience was great too.
Pros: Separate menu, Staples made vegan, Options, taste, experience

Great Tapas options - Edit
The Old Yard Tapas Bar has separate vegan menus for Tapas options and lunch options. I had the beetroot salad, patatas aioli and Boorekakia. The patatas was delicious and the salad was good, wasn't keen on the boorekakia as it was very cheese heavy and I'm not a fan of vegan cheese. Staff were friendly, the building could do with some tlc and doesn't smell great.

The wind is a gentle breeze - Edit
Wow, what a place. Fabulous low lit atmosphere, authentic beer barrelled interior with plenty of seating on two levels and an exterior (slightly rowdy in the summer) patio. The vegan tapas menu is abundant with Spanish and Greek dishes. After a couple of halves of the delightful Estrella Galicia we ordered patatas bravas, roasted egg plant rolled around vegan feta, mushrooms pan fried in garlic and tarragon, fried halloumi in lemon, hummus and pitta breads which were all superb. A fabulous place which will be re-visited.

Super Gyros - Edit
Really enjoyed the vegan halloumi, red pepper and mushroom gyros with maple glaze that I had for lunch today, which was perfectly cooked, seasoned and packed full of flavour. Texture wise, the halloumi was nothing like the real thing, but I still enjoyed it. The meal also came with chips, an aioli dip and a small side salad, which were delicious. Staff were very welcoming and attentive and the vibe during the lunch menu was excellent with the whole outside seating area full and lively. It would be great to have an evening meal here one day.

They had a separate vegan lunch & tapas menu with loads of different options. One of the tapas dishes was vegan black pudding and chorizo, it was really tasty. They also had small bottles of vegan (labeled) prosecco which was a nice treat!

What a pre-show delight … - Edit
Heading to the Hippodrome I looked for somewhere we could have a pre-show dinner but not too heavy.
Read moreThe Old Yard Tapas Bar was sporting a tempting Spanish Tapas and Greek Meze Vegan Dinner Menu so gave it a bash.
In the evening each table is candlelit, intimate but can be open for good chat for groups. Bar is well stocked, music was pleasant and staff attentive with a nice ambience.
There is a different vegan lunch and vegan dinner menu which are extracts from the main menu with some dishes changed to suit vegans. The vegan dinner menu sported 9 Spanish Tapas and 8 Greek Meze choices, with 11 sides (see picture). Unlike many places which brag about a good a menu but in reality they don’t have half of the ingredients, only 2 were not available due to being let down by suppliers.
We choose carefully to ensure the tastebuds had a different sensation or texture and we were not disappointed.
The ‘Breadbasket’ to start with had soft olive bread with vegan butter, olive oil and balsamic vinegar. A lovely appetiser while the food was being cooked and very cheap too.
Spanish ‘Patatas Ali Oli’ was warming comfort food consisting of tapas fried potatoes topped with a vegan ali oli (see picture)
Spanish ‘Morcilla Y Chorizo’ tasted just like real black pudding, but was a vegan black pudding with soy chorizo, topped with red onion. Amazing.
Spanish ‘Chorizo Con Pimentos Asados’ delighted our tastebuds. Rich with no obvious indication it was vegan at all. It’s a soy chorizo with roasted red peppers and pan fried in brandy and garlic. Delicious.
Greek ‘Boorekakia’ was really tasty and while the texture may put some off (very soft and slippery) it tasted really nice. It’s sliced aubergine, rolled and stuffed with vegan feta cheese and topped with tomato and vegan parmesan.
We also ordered the Greek ‘Halloumi’ but it was off the menu so they served at feta version instead (and never charged us for it - it was on the house). It’s is pan fried vegan halloumi (feta for us) served with oregano & lemon on top. Refreshing and real palate cleanser.
Washed down with a jug sangria, it felt like we were on holiday. 😊
Without doubt we’ll be back next time we’re in Darlo - try the vegan lunch menu next 😉

I wanted to give FIVE STARS but as they aren’t fully vegan it had to be 4!!!!! Superb experience, excellent attentive staff from going in just after 12 to coming out just after 2 (they were full but slotted me in)! Vegan menu!!! I chose vegan halloumi and spinach gyros, ate the whole lot AND vegan chocolate fudge cake and vegan ice cream it was absolutely amazing, beautiful setting and I just had to put them into here as they weren’t listed!!!! Now they are…I’ve added a couple of pics, thank you!!!
