Slow and chaotic... - Edit

I've been here a few times, the food's ok - if and when you get it!

Service is slow and chaotic, there only seems to be one person working flat out preparing food even at busy times. Portions are not generous.

Last time I didn't get my order at all. I was given a drink while I waited after my first complaint, then when they forgot my order *again* I was given a refund *and* told I could have a free meal next time I was in. However, this offer was not honoured when I tried to redeem it as I could not give the name of the staff member who had offered it (my name was taken but he did not give his own).

Much as I want to support a fully vegan establishment I will not be returning. Offering to compensate for mistakes is good, but only if *all* those offers are honoured.

Pros: Fully vegan, City centre location

Cons: Slow service, Small portions, Shoddy attitude

Distinctly average - Edit

She forgot our teas, when reminded, she proceeded to forget the soya milk.
No apology.
The food was small portions and very expensive, four pounds for a fudge square sized piece of brownie. Will not return.

Pros: vegan

Cons: expensive, nightclub racket at earsplitting volume

lovely - Edit

Very odd working out opening hours as it's attached to a pub with different hours.
The food is updatirs and it was delight. Old school veggie atmosphere and a lot of fried food, which can't be beaten once and a while.
Tofu and. Veg skewers were followed by a jackfruut burger and spicy seitan strips. Loved the slaw and top not overall.
Get in.

Pros: 100%, staff

The old red bus cantina Vegan sensation! - Edit

The Old Red Bus Station Cantina is leeds’s second only all vegan food outlet, but hey ho what a fine place it is! It’s not snazzy, or hipster, chic, or “worthy” but it serves some super grub at not too expensive prices. We were late back in to town on a sat night but managed to get space on a shared table at 8.30pm which is a blessing as all the other decent veggie places that do vegan options in central Leeds close up much earlier than that. Our starters included tofu and broccoli skewers covered in a very tasty thin batter. We also had a mushroom and olive pate on toast that tickled our tastebuds pleasurably and some onion rings that maybe lacked enough batter but tasted a treat. The menu is impressive in that the options that sound obvious like ‘burgers’ have interesting twists or additions. I had a Portobello bean burger that was nicely crumbly and crunchy and came with a bun that had a very tasty pesto spread on it. The chips were nicely done if a little low in number and the carrot and beetroot salad very tasty. One of my comrades had a strong chickpea curry dish that was too much for her to finish but too spicy for me to finish off, she very much liked what she ate.. None of the desserts were sugar free though an offer to ‘throw together some fruit’ was generously made! A conversation with the chef promises that their menu will change with the seasons, always include specials and will begin to cater to the fussy vegans like I who want sugar free or gluten free options! The staff were friendly and helpful, we felt a bit guilty that they needed to go downstairs to fetch teas and coffee especially when it turned out that there were no rooibos or earl grey options anyway. When I am back in Leeds I will return to this place, it’s not inexpensive but for the quality of the food it is entirely reasonable and finally puts Leeds on the map for Vegan cuisine. Don’t be put off by having to negotiate your way through the bar and it’s music system. The cantina is at the top of the stairs and has an entirely more pleasant atmosphere for consuming food , drink and engaging in conversation. Viva la Cantina!

A must visit addition to Leeds Vegan scene - Edit

This is a wonderful additional to Leeds. Now fully up and running and with a bust stream of guests, this interesting space is served by smart, engaging committed staff. There is a great menu and the food is both interesting yet accessible. They also do a popular Sunday Roast.

I had a super burger, some delicious onion rings, but perhaps my favourite was the home made banana and chocolate ice cream.

Lovely atmosphere, spacious seating and setting, and a diverse crowd.

Big good luck to this restaurant - long may it run.

Pros: Attentive knowledgable staff, Interesting menu, Lovely setting and atmosphere

tasty ! - Edit

They were just 7 weeks old when we ate there and they were really helpful and accommodating. The food is super tasty, but lots of dishes are quite spicy so it's worth asking in advance if that can be a problem.

The Old Red Bus Station All Vegan Menu - Edit

Excellent attentive service and amazing vegan street food grub. Help support the food revolution. My non-vegan boyfriend, Jason even loved the Pulled Jackfruit BBQ Sauce Burger and Sweet Potato & Parsnip Chips. They had a tasty bite to them. I loved my Blackbean Saitan & Beetroot infused Burger and Raw Rainbow Super Slaw which tasted scrumptiously divine.

We met the head chef who is also affiliated with "Honest Edibles," which is..."a popular street food concept that’s earned hoards of fans at Leeds University Union Farmers’ Market and at festivals across the country. Their brand of continental vegan eats, made with sustainable, ethically-sourced, local and seasonal produce was exactly what the guys at The Old Red Bus Station were looking for."

"Naughty street food combines with vegan vitality, creating signature flavours packed with wholesome goodness."
