Perfect hikers base

What a lovely cosy pub! We also spend 3 nights here and used it as the location for going on several hikes.
As there were 3 vegan options on the menu that meant we didn't have to worry about finding food and we could just hop in the pub downstairs. We also had our own kitchen in the appartment, which was ideal to store our lunch and breakfast items.

Staff was very friendly and the athmosphere in the pub was very cosy.
We tried all the vegan dishes, the vegan broccoli salad. That was by far, the best salad I had around here. Still a few wilted leaves but except for that it was very tasty. The mustard mash was also very tasty, we had it with mushed peas but I would order fresh peas next time. I saw other people had them, unless they aren't vegan so do double check that. The cassoulet was also very flavourful, unfortunately the rice wasn't fresh. As a dessert they have a cherry crumble with vegan ice cream which was quite tasty.

Cons: They don't take reservations in the pub

A nice pub with some great vegan food

We spent a little time camping at the Newfold Farm Campsite in Edale and this is the local pub literally across the road from the site. Edale is a lovely spot but a bit out of the way so we weren't expecting too much vegan in the area. We were surprised!!

There are many vegan options on the menu (denoted by a Blue V at the time of writing).
We only got to try the sausage and mash, which was odd for us to pick as my partner makes probably the best sausage and mash in the world but it's what we both fancied. Oh my was it the right thing to go for, the sausages were locally made vegan sausages that were fantastic and tasty, the mash was so smooth and perfect, the mushy peas a great texture and flavour, the gravy looked a little thin for me, but was really very nice, you could tell this was a plate of food made by someone who cared with attention to detail, not just some throwaway vegan item on the pub menu to get some more customers in the door.

I really can't recommend this enough.

The atmosphere is nice and there is also a great selection of local beer and ale.

Pros: Fantastic food, Good beer

Cons: No garden (but the local area makes up for it!)
