Really tasty food, reasonably priced, thoughtful service, cute and cosy

It’s been over two months since I ate here but the food made such a lasting impression that I came back to review it! You get a lot for your money, the portion size was perfect for this hungry breastfeeding mama! Really tasty food, we drove miles to come and eat here and weren’t disappointed! Wholesome vegan food, not your standard junk. Will def come back!

Cons: Parking was tricky but worth the walk

Cosy little cafe

Only just spotted this place as we were driving by on holiday, so made a bid to come back another day. Had a lovely tea and brownie/flapjack. The man I spoke to was so pleasant and I hope this place lasts a very long time in a town full of only non vegan places!

So worth a visit

We recently visited after seeing this vegan place existed and it was so worth the trip. We arrived after lunch time so the daily special was gone but never mind, they rustled up a meatball wrap for me and a special falafel bowl for my partner that has special dietary needs beyond vegan. It was a glorious October day and we got to sit in the backyard. So tranquil. Glad we came and had lunch here.

Lovely tea room next the beach

Lovely selection of wraps and sandwiches. Went for a meatless meatball wrap and was amazing. The carrot cake was equally as good.

Pros: Fairly priced. Very helpful.

Cons: None

Unexpected gem

Amazing tea room/cafe serving home made vegan daily specials, sandwiches and deserts - had pasta bake & salad followed by raw carrot cake and a chat with the owner. Not just the only vegan place for miles but also some of the best food I've had in the area generally. Great coffee too. Worth going out of your way for!

Simply the best...

I found this little wonderful place by pure accident and WOW....
The owner came to the door and said that he was cooking and would be open by midday .... he was such a polite man...I waited until he opened walked in and just couldn’t resist buying ... the berry cheesecake, peanut chocolate brownie, custard & granola pot, and a scone ... honestly these were just so amazing !!!
I will most definitely return and sample the savoury dishes ... the owner is a very talented chef .... thank you for making my A/L day from work such a memorable one!
You deserve to do so well and I hope other individuals will look at my honest feedback and try your exceptional cuisine.
We’ll be back soon!

Pros: Amazing food, A genuine gentleman owner, Best cakes ever

Lovely little cafe in centre of Dymchurch

Visited this cafe at the weekend. We shared a Buddha bowl and had the pasta bake and little bowls of the soup of the day. All the food was fresh and delicious. My partner opted for the chia seed and coconut pudding and I had the chocolate cheesecake. Only remembered to take a photo after I’d already tucked in!

Pros: Friendly staff, Fresh and tasty food , Good value

Cons: None!

Fantastic Find - Thank You Happy Cow

We visited The Mortar And Pestle - Vegan Tearoom after seeing it on Happy Cow. It's easy to find on the main street in Dymchurch and very cosy and welcoming. There is an amazing choice of food on the menu and the owner, Ian was very friendly and helpful. Whilst we were there it got very busy but Ian managed extremely well and kept calm throughout.

When our food arrived it was fantastic, Lin had the Thai green curry and I had nut loaf balls in a wrap. After the mandatory you taste mine and I'll taste yours we both agreed how good the food was. We took two portions of brownie home for tea and that was equally as good.

There's so much choice on the menu we are making the 120 mile round trip again this week to try something else! If you are out for the day and are within 50 miles of Dymchurch it's really worth the drive to get your lunch.

Pros: Choice of food, The quality of the food, Welcoming and friendliness of the owner

Cons: There are no cons!

Perfect coffee and cake

What a gem of a place, quite unexpected in a seaside resort. Ian was fabulous and we were glad to hear that he had a “sell out day” however we still had full choice of cakes. The coffee is cafetière which was lovey to share. We had fridge cake and cheese cake which are both to be highly recommended. We had envy when people around us had the carrot cake and brownie so that will be sampled on the next trip.
Ian thoughtfully put together a Buddha bowl for a couple that came just before closing and that also looked filling and delicious.
Service is thoughtful and considered so don’t be expecting Starbucks speed of delivery.
Will definitely return when down at the coast.

Pros: Delicious food, Great service

Cons: Too many desserts to choose from!

Fantastic lunch

Brilliant little cafe in the high street. We had the homemade tagine which was yummy - very fresh and flavoursome. Ample portions. I am GF and Ian, the owner, was very helpful recommending suitable dishes.
Followed with raw carrot cake and a mixed berry cheese cake. Superb!
If you value healthy, freshly made vegan food this is well worth a visit.
We even took a takeaway for our dinner.
It is very small so book ahead.

Pros: Fresh and home cooked

Vegan oasis in old school resort

Small, totally vegan tearoom. Limited menu but all excellent. Really friendly owner. Opposite the amusement park; 30 minute parking outside, or car park a short walk.

Pros: Vegan. Friendly. Healthy.

Cons: No espresso, just cafetieres.

Sun trap garden

Sweet little tea shop serving a variety of healthy dishes. The sweet potato and aubergine tagine was lovely. Would have liked slightly larger portions but I'm a bit greedy like that. We liked that we could bring our dogs through into the garden, although I would not have been so keen in rough weather conditions. Worth a visit if you are out that way.

Pros: Fully vegan, good lunch options.

Cons: Dogs outside only.

Perfect wee vegan eating place

Although we live near Edinburgh we love going here when we visit mother in law. Owner is lovely and the food is so good, only wish it wasn't 500 miles from home!

Pros: Food is great, Lovely traditional seaside town setting, Owner is a sweetheart

Cons: No cons other than how far away from home it is 😉

Calm & friendly oasis

Came late in the day so was not expecting a lot to be left on the menu. However we enjoyed a beautifully presented and delicious dal in the garden. The owner was welcoming and thoughtful. Lovely to find a vegan eaterie in Dymchurch.

Pros: Good vegan food, Pretty garden for al fresco dining, Dog friendly

A warm welcome, amazing food, a lovely garden and dog friendly too..! Wow!! The dal was excellent, the salad bowls were packed with roasted veg, hummus with harissa, home-made pakora, pearl barley and more ... and the smoothies were stunning too!

Wonderful Afternoon tea

Such a lovely tea room. Ian prepared a special afternoon tea for my friend and I which consisted of a selection of finger sandwiches and wraps, delicious cakes with cream and jam, protein balls, chocolate tiffins and other treats, fruit and unlimited tea and coffee. Everything was delicious and fresh, and you could see how much care he puts into the place. We couldn't have asked for more and can't wait to come back!

Pros: Delicious, fresh food, Outstanding service , Great value

What a lovely owner and experience, food 10/10

My partner and I had just finished our day at the Port Lympne zoo and looked up vegan food nearby. Only a 10 minute drive away, and when we arrived we received a warm welcome. Lovely intimate feel to the place, food was very tasty, and the owner was lovely and generous. I personally recommend the Dal and the Victoria sponge cake with cashew butter and jam.

Honestly can't say enough good things about this place, and considering the business has only been running for about a year, it'll only keep improving! Shame I live all the way out in Basildon Essex where there are no luxuries like this gem, so appreciate it!

Pros: Delicious food and great customer service

Cons: None I could see
