Small proper coffee shop also serving specialty teas. The darkest hot chocolate can be made vegan with oat milk and there is usually one labeled vegan cake. Also labels gluten free cakes. Open Mon-Sat 9:00am-5:00pm.

Lovely place, greeted so warmly as soon as we walked in. The staff were very kind to our two young boys :)
I had a lovely vegan cake and an oat milk flat white. Would absolutely come again, it was a lovely memory added to our trip. Thank you!

not vegan friendly - Edit
I went in for lunch and the staff member I spoke to didn't know what was vegan. She wasn't sure if the sourdough bread was vegan (it's the only bad they sell).
Pros: Has oat milk
Cons: Staff member couldn't suggest anything vegan , Only serves drinks and cakes, no lunch menu., Crowded and squashed

Lovely Coffee! - Edit
Went back here after lunching at the Wild Zucchini Bistro on Stephen's recommendation. I kind of felt obliged because he was so helpful. He recommended their Drip of the Day, since I'd asked for a black Americano, which was 20p more expensive than the Drip. Bearing in mind it's his own place, I appreciated the fact that he cared less about the money and more about the coffee! I supplemented the coffee with a piece of vegan Clementine and Cinnamon cake, perfectly moist and quite delicious. The place was full of laughter, as he obviously enjoys a rapport with his customers. Highly recommended 😜
Pros: very friendly atmosphere , great coffee, great cake
Cons: cosy, don't take up a table if there's just two of

Perfectly Formed - Edit
First warning: this place is SMALL - three tables, so you are not guaranteed a seat if you turn up on-spec, and when you have finished your drinks the staff will start making noises so that someone else can have your table. There are perching stools.
Décor is nice (the place was completely refitted after the 2015 floods) although at present the toilet is not labelled, leading to my walking repeatedly into the kitchen by mistake. There is a wide choice of teas and coffees. The two darkest hot chocolates can be made vegan with oat milk, with a very pleasing result. The staff have promised they will keep one vegan cake available (at the moment it is usually marmalade cake and tastes good). There is also always a GF option, but this is currently not the vegan one, so if you're a GF vegan you're a bit stuck.
But generally this café is good and the staff are really nice, so this is a welcome addition to Cockermouth's rather small selection of vegan-friendly eateries.
Pros: Nice cake, nice staff, salubrious interior
Cons: Poky, crowded, only one choice of vegan cake
