Not Rocking Bird

This is the third time I've eaten here. Today, I ordered the Original Sando, which is fried chicken, lettuce, tomato, pickles, and mayo. I did not want tomato, but the online ordering did not allow notes. There was way too much mayo. The chicken has a good consistency, but no flavor other than fried oil. Conversely, the fries were well-seasoned, but a mix of soft and crispy, which was slightly off-putting. I want to support vegan businesses, but this food disappoints me.

Pros: all vegan, outdoor seating

Cons: flavorless chicken, online ordering doesn't allow notes

Favourite Chick’n Sando

Absolutely love the thick chicken patties with the pretzel bun. The baKon is crunchy and delicious, and the Mac is uniquely creamy. Before the pandemic, I was visiting the food cart a little toooooo often. 😅🥰

Worth a visit

Calamari was awesome, the chicken sandwich had good flavor but was a little mushy in the middle

Love it!

I really love this place! Their standard sandwiches are amazing, and their specials are too. The chick'n bacun ranch is my favorite, and the loaded waffle fries second.

Salty chicken sandwich

Tried the chicken sandwich and is was soooo salty I could only take two bites of it before tossing it. Maybe they just didn’t mix the batter well🤷🏻‍♂️, but it was literally like eating nothing but salt.

Best fried “chicken”

Out of all the vegan fried chicken I’ve tried, this is my favorite. I’m hoping they’ll add chicken & waffles to their menu.

Great

Portions are huge which I love. The mac by itself I found had too much of a tangy taste, but paired with the fried chicken it worked great. The seitan was nice but the coating was super crunchy and perfect.

Incredible

I had their breakfast sandwich special. I couldn’t believe what I was eating. It was incredibly like chicken. I’ve had their other meals too - you can’t go wrong with fried chick’n here!

Pros: Good portions, Flavourful

Cons: Limited open hours, Food truck!

Great vegan comfort food

If you’re looking for vegan comfort food, then this is the place for you! We got the buffalo chick-not sandwich to share and it was pretty satisfying. Macaroni salad was great too. Love supporting all of the many vegan food trucks in Portland— this one is no exception.

Best "Chiken" sandwich

Serving the best fried chiken. We had the bacon ranch and was delicious. Check it out!

Pros: Really nice owner!, Nice food cart pod with outdoor seating., Beer pod as well.

Really tasty fried chicken

I'm always surprised Portland doesn't have more vegan fried chicken, so definitely happy to have The Mocking Bird in town. I got the standard chicken sandwich with cheese, and it was quite tasty! Chicken was the perfect texture for me -- firm, but not spongy. The mac n cheese was also quite good. Highly recommend this place!

Pros: Fried chicken was excellent

Cons: Bun was a bit large (but that's a real nitpick)
