The unique themed rooms; friendly hosts, great location and lovely vegan breakfast options made the 3 night stay perfect for us. Genuinely dog friendly with a sweet hall of fame of previous 'doggie' guests. A helpful book of local places to get vegan options was good. We thoroughly enjoyed visiting the area and staying at Miggi's. Would recommend it.

Lovely place, fab food - Edit
Co-host Mark welcomed me and showed me to the Alice Walker room: a purple theme for “The Colour Purple” book. There is a binder with some very interesting and helpful information about the area. Two single beds at opposite ends of a narrow room, with ensuite shower room, tea and coffee fixings and mini-fridge with a welcome treat inside. And a gift box of eco-friendly soaps. Many thoughtful extras.
Read moreI love the author-themed décor throughout. One of the ground-floor guest rooms is wheelchair-accessible.
I also booked two dinners by Phoenix of All Good Things Vegan - wonderful meals - as well as their truffles and artisan almond-cheese. The kind souls at The Miggi even helped me celebrate my birthday.

My family including our cantankerous chihuahua stayed for a weekend. Our rooms were homely and spacious. They have a fridge in each room with chilled water and a sweet surprise in them! Lovely vegan toiletries in the bathroom which had a monsoon shower.

Naomi and Mark, the hosts, were lovely; there if we needed anything but gave us space too. They were lovely with Bella, our chihuahua. They gave her time to settle and go to them at her pace.
All I can say is they’re fabulous, the place is fabulous and the breakfast is delicious!
We had an evening meal both nights we were there and Phoenix from All Good Things Vegan is the chef. We cannot fault the food. Definitely 5*. Even if you’re in Paignton just for a visit I’d recommend you book in with Phoenix for one of their delicious meals.

A great b&b with lovely hosts. Naomi and Mark have created a tasteful and guest friendly space - comfy chairs, great shower, huge fluffy towels, they know the area well and can recommend great days out, plus places to eat. The food is amazing, generous portions well presented and lots of choice. The area is perfect for exploring- it's minutes from the beach and the south coast path.

One of Paignton’s Best Kept Vegan Secrets. - Edit
Just arrived back home from a long weekend at the Miggi and couldn’t wait to wax lyrical about this gorgeous, cosy little vegan guest house just off of the main promenade. Our stay couldn’t have been better. From our thoughtfully adapted Tolkien-themed room to the wonderful vegan food lovingly planned and prepared by Phoenix the owner of the Miggi’s sister company All Good Things Vegan to Mark’s HUGE breakfast, every aspect of our stay was perfect. Our little dog Willow was made so welcome too and absolutely adored being fussed by not only Mark and Phoenix but all the guest too. As you can imagine my needs as a vegan, dog owning wheelchair user are quite specific when looking for holiday accommodation and the Miggi ticked every box….and then some. My only disappointment is that we didn’t have time to sample Phoenix’s epic vegan cream tea….don’t worry it’s first thing on my list next stay. Thank you Mark and Phoenix for all your kind attention. Look forward to seeing you both again soon.

I had a gloriously welcoming, comfy and delicious stay. I got to see all the rooms. They have so much character, each with a different author theme. Mine was Mary Shelley, beautifully gothic, with a great bathroom, and the added bonus of a sea view. The big bed was so comfy. There's a fridge in the room which could be handy.

It's a short walk to the beach which is dog-friendly out of high season. There's plenty of free parking and public transport.

The Miggi is a perfect place to stay, not just for Paignton or Torbay, but the whole of Devon. Ideally situated just 100metres from the beach and a short walk into town. Nothing is too much trouble for the hosts and they are very friendly. More like new best-friends than landlords. The breakfasts are fantastic with a great range of options. And you really must book an afternoon tea or evening meal expertly prepared by “All good things vegan”.

Lovely vegan dog friendly B&B - Edit
A wonderful vegan and dog friendly haven very close to the beach! Naomi and Mark were welcoming and helpful hosts and had provided everything needed for a comfortable stay and lovely extras too such as eco-friendly vegan toiletries, dog treats and Phoenix's handmade truffles.
Read moreBreakfast was so good and we ran through all the different menu options during our stay. The literary themed rooms were great and a lot of thought had gone into each one. We stayed in the Tolkien room which is downstairs and has an accessible wet room for guests. Phoenix who is the chef at All Good Things Vegan, based at The Miggi, made some delicious food for us on 3 evenings. We had Tapas one day, Lasagne another and joined for the Super Tasty Friday meal which was a taste of Norway. All were really delicious and plentiful! Nice to try some dishes that you wouldn't normally come across made vegan by Phoenix, who makes everything taste amazing. Their handmade truffles are also delicious and we took some home for gifts.
In the area there is plenty to do and see. We went on the steam railway, a wildlife conservation boat tour where we saw a pod of common dolphins, Dartmouth and Totnes castles, Bygones at Babbacombe and Torquay and Paignton beaches which have dog friendly areas in places.
We could have filled another week with different activities!
Thanks to everyone at The Miggi for a wonderful break! We will definitely come again.

Lovely vegan and dog friendly B&B - Edit
My partner and I stayed at The Miggi for two nights, with our dog, in the Mary Shelley room.
Read moreThe room was ample in size and we loved the Frankenstein themed decor - such thought and effort has clearly been put into putting this together. We especially appreciated the welcome truffles left in our fridge and the very cute box of soaps in our room.
The breakfast choices were very impressive, with a wide selection of options, generous portions and tasty food - all served in the (also very nicely put together) Agatha Christie themed dining room. Unfortunately we didn’t have the Friday night themed dinner as we personally weren’t keen on the meal planned for that night, but we would be very keen to try it on a different night.
Naomi, Mark and Phoenix were all very welcoming, friendly and approachable and we loved the fact that they gave us our space.
The location was a very short walk to the closest beach and a short walk to the pier area. It was a great base for exploring local parts of Devon via day trips.
Overall we were very happy with our stay and feel the price of the nightly rate was very reasonable and good value for money. Having never stayed in a B&B before I wasn’t sure what to expect but staying at the Miggi was lovely and we are looking forward to staying again. Would highly recommend.

Cons: Water pressure in the shower

Wish we could have stayed longer! - Edit
We stayed at the Miggi for one night en route to a wedding in Cornwall and wished that we could have stayed much longer! The LOTR room was charming with an extremely comfortable bed and super fluffy towels and the hosts were so accommodating, allowing us to arrive late and even lending us a sewing kit when we realised my OHs shirt button had come loose. I would hugely recommend consuming some of Phoenix's food if you're staying - we were fortunate enough to catch their Swedish inspired night and it was better than most restaurants. And their takeout lunchbox the next day was stupendous with every lunch food you could imagine included! Thank you so much The Miggi and Phoenix for an excellent stay!

Wonderful place - Edit
Me, my partner and our little dog stayed at The Miggi for 6 nights. We were going to stay for four but decided we didn't want to leave!
Read moreWe honestly couldn't have asked for more. The room was very comfortable and we felt warmly welcomed by welcoming gifts such as delicious truffles for us, and vegan dog treats for our pooch. The room had everything we needed, small fridge, plant milk, tea coffee, towels, vegan toiletries, hair dryer etc.
We had a few requests throughout and nothing was ever too much trouble. All requests were promptly responded to and we felt very looked after.
Breakfasts are varied and generous. We opted to book additional dinners and cream tea with our in-house chef Phoenix who couldn't have accommodate us more. Food was delicious, very reasonably priced and not having to leave the premise to find food really helped us relax.
The overall atmosphere is warm and relaxed. There are board games and books available to borrow, and a vending machine full of vegan treats. The beach and pier are a short walk from the guest house and easily accessible. The Miggi offer a comprehensive guide of vegan places and attractions in the area which was really useful.
We stayed in the Tolkien room which has an accessible bathroom, which is great & the entrance etc are all wheelchair accessible.
We were sad to leave and can't wait to visit again 💚

Thanks for the five stars - I am glad you and your wife enjoyed your stay.
Read moreWhile I understand that you were disappointed not to have all the gluten-free items you wanted, I don't think it's fair for you to say that I do not provide anything for folk who are gluten-free and claim that you were not provided with breakfast.
I have a large, multi-course breakfast menu and gave you the following gluten-free options:
Fresh pineapple and melon slices
A choice of 3 different gluten-free cereals with plant milk of your choice.
A large hot breakfast including herby potato bites, mushrooms, tomatoes, beans, and scrambled tofu.
So I don't feel that it is accurate to write a review that suggests
you weren't provided with a breakfast and say "no gluten free".
I'd also like anyone gluten-free who is thinking of staying at The Miggi to know that I have added to our gluten-free offer so there are now sausages, bacon, and bread for toast as well as all the above. And if there is anything specific that you'd like to request due to dietary needs, please let me know when you book and I will do my best to get it in for you.

I had a really nice stay at the Miggi. Themed rooms, various vegan breakfast options, choice of non-dairy milks for your fridge, and it is literally 2 minutes walk from Preston Sands beach which is one of the nicest in the area and less crowded than the main beach.
