Vegan carvery options

Attended the Mermaid unplanned and was surprised that there were a few options. The menu features a couple of burgers, but as the pub in the main is a carvery I was more intrigued by what was available there. Both a meat free carvery and a plant based chicken carvery are available. The lady on the carvery was incredibly helpful and talked through what was suitable in terms of the veg (largely everything bar cauliflower cheese and the mash). She also went to check the gravy ingredients (suitable for vegetarians but no dairy in the ingredients). I was pleasantly surprised by the whole experience.

Nice pub. Average food

There was a few options here. 2 types of burgers. I had the chicken burger. They also did meatless pizza balls which sounded quite nice.
The burger was nice enough… I’d have preferred it with vegan Mayo and salsa or something a bit more exciting. It came out dry with tomato sauce on the side. Also came out with chips rather than the wedges stated on menu. It was fine though and you have a small choice. Also has a vegan starter and desert (apple pie) on the menu.

Pros: Fast food, A few options , Nice pub

Cons: Average food, Not loads of choice

Poor management, little care for vegan food or service

Very limited vegan options but decided to give it a go as we really fancied a proper roast dinner and didn't want to cook!
Ordered the clearly marked vegan roast dinners but when it arrived, we'd got yorkshire puddings and there was cauliflower cheese all over it.
When we queried this we were told that because we didn't state we were vegan (whilst ordering the vegan roast dinner) they were perfectly OK to make substitutions to what was pictured and management would not offer us a swap or a refund.
The management said that people often ordered the vegan meal just to have extra veggies, not becuase they were vegan so they'd never had any compaints.
A very disappointing experience! Will not be going back.

Cons: poor management, didn't arrive vegan as ordered
