Great food and coffee in a cute town - Edit
Newtown is a historic, colonial town, and is very quaint and charming. Within, the Mercury Cafe is a gym with delicious comfort food and great coffee. While it’s vegetarian, many of the dishes can be prepared vegan. The BBQ pulled oats sandwich, pastrami panini, grilled cheese and tomato soup were all so good and comforting. Definitely worth stopping by if you’re in the area!

Such a veg gem - Edit
All vegetarian, lots of vegan options. Lots of tea, coffee (Local beans from Little Goat), cocktails, wine and beer. Staff is super friendly and it’s a cute place. Patio is nice in warmer months. Probably my favorite place for vegan food in DE.

Adorable! - Edit
Super cute cafe and tea house! Loved the different blends of teas and of course I had to try the oat pulled pork.. delicious!! It reminded me of seitan but made from oats! Side salad was fresh with a super yummy tahini dressing and my friend loved her vegetarian dishes as well. Great place.

Delicious - Edit
Usually vegan “pulled pork” is make with jack fruit, so it was irresponsible to order a “oat pulled pork” sandwich. It was delicious, but the tomato soup stole the show. If I was going to go back I would want to try the Merc Melt. Beware, no dogs allowed on the porch. I ate in the car haha.

Good eats in a historic city - Edit
What a cute cafe. They have it all! From artisan tea to carefully crafted cocktails to being in a historic building to immaculate vibes. Plus it’s all vegetarian and everything can easily be made vegan. I have nothing but good things to say. It was all so tasty and staff was kind and helpful. Highly recommend!

So happy this place is here! - Edit
They've been open since December 2021, but I did not find out about this place until I read an article about them on Delaware Today a couple of weeks ago! Mercury needs more reviews on this app! We had the pulled-oat "pork" sandwich, classic grilled cheese, merc melt, tomato basil soup, side salad, potato chips, three decaf espressos with oat creamer and hazelnut, apple juice, iced tea with fresh squeezed lemon juice. and a big fat chocolate chip cookie🤤🤤🤤
